Can I give negative stars? I am the person who 100% will give stellar reviews when warranted and think long and hard before giving a negative review. We understood that in the midst of a pandemic and then the island being hit by a hurricane that there would be delays in responses. As we were trying to figure out two weeks prior to our planned vacation whether or not we could even take it, we could not get a call, email or anything back from OIA. Finally, I figured maybe they would answer social media, which they did, tel... read more

Read recent reviews before considering! There have been several complaints of filthy homes, nonworking appliances and outlets, unprofessional correspondence, and poor response to renters. Its evident that OIA has taken a complete turn for the worse in the past year or two. This was supposed to be my first year there but our rental became unhabitable, which we learned about approximately 12 hrs before making the 16 hour drive. When we call to discuss our refund, they pass the torch and blame the NC Realtors Association and th... read more

Where to.begin? I have now called a total of 6 or 7 times left at least 3 messages and still no call back. we stayed the first week in August at Katie Lou's ( week of the hurricane) ocean Front 4000 for the week. upon arrival the house is dirty, stained carpet, broken towel bars, tub wouldn't drain, trash and food under sofa and beds, dog hair and dirt stuck to furniture upstairs. dog hair in blinds at living room window downstairs, bad smell in living room. Called day 2 to mention the issues and that the house was in no wa... read more

oak island accommodations screws the renter, takes the rental fees with no responsibility for holding up their end of the contract. They are currently attempting to hold us to our rental contract despite the hurricane, the island on evacuation order, and giving us absolutely no information about the condition of the house, the beach, or the other things we need to do such as go to restaurants. Jessica hoped that I would understand that the community has been devastated and would be patient----sorry, no! I get it that the c... read more

We rented @Beachypeachykeen.com and I called the day before regarding access to the home. We were told we couldn’t check in at 3 as our agreement stated but at 4pm for the additional cleaning due to COVID. We arrived at 4pm and to our surprise the home hadn’t been touched since the previous renters had left. They left trash, dirty counters, etc. we contacted OIA and spoke to Mary who said she would send someone and not to go in. An hour later we called again and Mary said she was sending someone. I had my 82 and 77 year old ... read more

I booked 200 Steps to Somewhere hoping for a late summer (September) vacation for our family. We normally stay at OBX locations but decided to change it up this year to see what else is out there. I booked online on a Sunday and paid approximately half of the charges with my Chase Visa. I was unable to figure out how to annotate I needed to pay for our second dog (website says second dogs are $50) or how to get our military discount. The ad says "Dogs allowed" and "10% military discount." I sent a secure message through... read more
