Welcoming to both Mother and us (two daughters). Families are included in special occasions and parties. Residents look out for one another! Food looks good and is presented with flowers on the table. Helpful and kind staff. We are very happy with The Oaks and are comfortable with leaving Mother in their care.
She's been transferred to memory care so the cost went up [fee removed] ! I'm desperately trying to find a facility that accepts Medicaid, she's only 63! However, I do like that they engage with patients on a personal level, could do a better job cleaning rooms I would recommend this community to other families, I feel my sister is safe there
The staff at Oaks at Beaufort are friendly. The housekeeping is fine. Communication with the family is good, but I am always visiting regularly so I know what to expect. I hear no complaints about the food. The current chef is friendly and open to suggestions and needs of the residents. I would recommend Oaks at Beaufort, as the price is good. It is a small facility, so it is easy to reach the staff. The facility has been very good to my brother so far.
Just in the year my mom has been there, all of the original staff I dealt with arranging for her to come to this facility have been replaced. Recommending would depend on the needs of the individual in question. For example, if they are looking to age in place through hospice, this is not the place.
I would tell others looking that you need to be firm in establishing lines of communication, especially WRT daily schedule, rhythms of the facility, care plan, who may speak with or for whom, and how best to interact with the staff particularly when the resident's memory and/or understanding of things may be suspect.
I would definitely recommend it. I already have to some friends moving their mother from CA. My loved one participates in Bingo, trivia, arts and crafts. He also enjoys the exercise. I compared several facilities in the surrounding areas Savannah, Pooler, Hilton Head and Bluffton. Assisted living is not inexpensive. I liked the fact that we were not charged for every little extra like some places.
We like the Oaks at Beaufort for our loved one because it is one story. It is a smaller community as well and the staff are all very pleasant. However just like everyone else they are struggling with staffing at times, so the quality of care is not always there.
Dad said he did not like the food. Also when I moved him [out] I found in his room items he found or stole that he should have had access to. Like a three pronged garden tool, pliers and screwdrivers. Not sure what he was planning on doing with them but he should not have had access to such items. It was a really nice place.
The people who worked there, were so nice and helpful. They are wonderful. The food was good but loved one did not eat the food. They had activites, and allowed others to come in and also participate. We picked this community because, it was the most budget friendly.
