Food was decent, service was a bit spotty.
There were 6 of us in our dining party - we were seated promptly and immediately our attentive waitress made sure we had drinks, menus & bread. Our youngest guest, 12 years old, pronounced with surety that "This ceasar salad is the best I've ever had"! The arugula and mozarella salad was tasty. First time visitor to San Diego, I chose this restaurant out of a list of many Italian choices. I was so glad I chose Osteria...I hit the jackpot! Everything about my experience reminded me of my travels & dining in Italy!! The food was amazing and the service was wonderful! It was a memorable dining experience! Can't wait to return to San Diego & re-visit this dining gem!
Celebrated our 27th anniversary and we noted it on our Open Table reservation. They held the nicest table right on the street and the food and service was excellent. My bride loved it as well.
My friends and I came to Panevino during my best friend's Bachelorette Weekend in San Diego. We decided to do a nicer dinner before our big night out and the girls loved it! It's in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego which makes for a perfect setting. The server was attentive, knowledgeable and kind. This is our third time to this restaurant. The food is always good. We were seated quickly. The server was friendly and helpful. They were very busy and it was very noisy. We asked for more water several times with no luck. Finally we got it. Then our entree came and there were no utensils. We finally got the server's attention and she brought some utensils. It seemed to become less hectic once some large parties left.
We went for a pre-marathon meal and I would have been happy with an average pasta dish. Instead I was treated to an incredible lamb ravioli. I have traveled (and dined) extensively for work, and been to Italy many times. This dish was one of the best I have had outside Italy. The server was very cheerful and had apparently been with the restaurant for many years. Great evening, great meal!
The tables are so close together you can hear every conversation and get bumped by everyone that goes by or tries to get up from their seat.
