My overall experience from start to finish was great. Amanda is a great communicator and was able to answer all of my questions, even on a holiday.
Every step of the process was met with ambiguous communication and confusion. To get my refinance moving, I had to be aggressively proactive. I had to acquire direct lines to team members and managers. I had to leave voicemails and send emails multiple times. The first notary didn't show up. No calls from Pennymac or the title company. 2nd time around, the notary was missing paperwork. Had to rush and scramble to get the missing paperwork signed. More direct lines of communication are necessary.
It took us 3 months to finally get the loan moving. If Gina Merritt would start moving it .All the paper work on our side PennyMac had. After three months my husband had switched jobs so we had to get that moving. Then on date of closing we sit here and waited for the closer he never showed up so we called him and he tells us our loan was canceled. There again if it wasn’t for Gina the nightmare would of not been over.We finally closed at8:30 that night no dinner.
Everything went great. Time was short, communication and needs where upfront and easy to meet.
The process was easier than expected
She went out of her way to answer all my questions. I have a very busy job and a very busy practice and she was patient with me until I was able to get back to her about something related to my loan. (I believe it was signing) I believe if it wasn’t for her, my loan Application would've stalled I have been canceled.
The Pennymac mortgage refiancing process was pretty seamless with great customer service and frequent updates. I would definitely recommend them.
Brandon was great- he at least got us to the finish line. We started with Victoria Zelner and got passed around to multiple people without explanation until Brandon came in the picture. The timeframe for closing seemed long based on what was explained to us, and ended up paying 2 months of mortgage waiting for this process to finish. When we tried to schedule the notary with Victoria, our communication was missed or ignored resulting in more delays (and a 2nd mortgage payment).
Only 2 negative items. There was a mistake on the original docs for closing. I noted the mistake and it was immediately corrected and new docs were sent the same day. Good job fixing! The second item was the necessity for an appraisal. My loan was for $310,000. I tried to explain that our home was taxed at a value of over $2,400,000. The appraisal came in at $3,700,000. Why do I need to waste $655.00 for an appraisal fee? I think this part of the process is a scam by your industry.
