So my girl Meilani started giving birth Saturday night, she had one kitten and while contracting to give birth to the 2nd baby, she had a uterine prolapse, I immediately called the Pet ER in Columbia, Maryland and they told me to bring her in STAT, I rushed her and her newborn to the Pet ER, upon getting there they told me that there were no expert surgeons there that could perform the surgery for a uterine prolapse but had another regular vet that could see her and if necessary they would call another Vet ER to get her in f... read more

After 5 hours and the only interaction was when I went to ask for an update, the vet finally came in. Every time I looked out the door the guy at the front desk,Taite was scrolling through his cell phone! The vet finally said she wanted to do surgery and we’d have to leave him there over night, since it was already 9pm. I don’t want to say it is all about the money, but come on, you couldn’t have told us that 4 hours ago? 3 doctors and only 1 handling all of the incoming patients! We were given every excuse they could come u... read more

Just lost our cat. She was in rough condition at arrival but I am very confused with Dr. Kim's behavior overall. I am currently on active duty out of state, so my family member brought my cat in. She was admitted in the afternoon. Dr. Kim said that she was "mentally not there", and that she was going to die within 30-60 mins. My family urgently gathered together in the ER within this timeframe, but Dr. Kim never actually made his appearance to them. Instead he called me to say that there is a slight chance to save the pet i... read more

Just had a "lovely" experience with these people. I thought they were poorly trained, not very intelligent, incapable of adequately addressing the situation they created, and rude. Carly, the woman who incorrectly told me to bring in my lame, barely moving 85-pound dog only to be told she could not be seen, hung up on me when I told her what I thought about the whole thing. How about apoligizing instead? Nah. Rebecca, the manager, wasn't rude but totally lacking in capacity to grasp the concpet that if one of the staff makes... read more

Recently my pet passed away under their care. I had originally taken him there because I found him mostly unresponsive and believe he had suffered a seizure. While at the pet E.R. they assessed him doing blood work and x-rays but could not find a reason why this happened. This lead them to believe that it was something neurological and that I would need to see a specialist. The plan was to stabilize him and monitor him overnight and then take him to a specialist the next morning. Unfortunately he did not make it through the ... read more

This was by far the worst interaction I have had with a pet health facility in my entire life. I wish I could rate -5 stars. My daughter's puppy got into some steel wool. We called the Pet Hospital in Baltimore and they said they were at capacity, so they referred us to Columbia. My daughter called and Columbia said to bring the puppy. We drove 25 minutes and then registered as directed and waited another 50 minutes before getting the puppy triaged. Of course, as each minute passed, my daughter was very frightened...worried ... read more

This place is horrible. We took our dog there one night around 8pm for swelling in the face. Our dog wasn't seen until 4am, and we were told he was fine, its just an allergic reaction or something. Well, we are currently at a different animal hospital and it turns out he has a tooth abscess infection, which means the Pet ER didn't even look in his mouth. He is running a fever of 105.7 and our vet said they are unable to get the paperwork from the Pet ER for our dog. Terrible place, terrible service, terrible vet. Will never ... read more

STAY AWAY!! I have worked in the veterinary industry for 15 years and never dealt with such incompetence. TL; DR: I paid $2000+ for Columbia Pet ER to NOT do the two things I brought my cat there for. I made it very clear to the doctors and staff that my cat was at this ER to A) Have his abdominal fluid tapped so he could be more comfortable, and be observed overnight for this; and B) Consult with an oncologist in the morning re: his ultrasound because his primary vet believed he had cancer. I tried to get him into AVIM o... read more

I couldn't be more disappointed. Our dog was referred to PetER Columbia from our primary vet (whom we very much love and trust) because he was having cardiac symptoms and showing signs of dehydration and vomiting before a previously scheduled procedure. He was lethargic and his head and extremities were very cold. He also had a very apparent fluttering heartbeat. Upon arrival to the Pet ER around 2:45pm, I called and was asked to give a report of why we were there. Then he was brought inside by a tech and I was told he wou... read more
