Dryer vent cleaning. Took the vent pipe apart, reached in with hand and pulled out lint. Told me he usually charged extra to replace the foil tape he had removed but wouldn't today. Made a big deal about it. Did not clean vent to outside as it was too much trouble, in spite of being asked to. I have done that little myself, I hired them to do what I couldn't. Person who came spent much time talking about himself as he worked rather than just getting the job done. I felt ripped off. .

After purchasing our home, we immediately wanted to get the chimney for the basement fireplace cleaned. We hired Potomac Services, the technician came out, said we needed to do a video inspection, and scheduled an appointment for that. He performed the inspection, and it showed that our entire chimney needed to be replaced, as there was a huge hole at the main level, which he said would mean that the chimney would vent at the main level, instead of exiting the house. I called 2 weeks in advance and scheduled our appointment for 9:30AM. I am an early riser and wanted to have time to get other things finished before winter and finish cleaning the storm damage outside. I had to cancel most of the plans we had for the weekend when the technician showed up 3 hours late. He did call - 2 hours after he was supposed to be there. Awful Awful Awful company. The service guy (Jason) was in a rush, he only did half the job, and it was overpriced. When I called the company to come back out and do it correctly, they wanted to charge me again. In their words, he ?wasn?t going to eat the money.? I ended up having to find another company. You can not trust this company! My dryer vent/duct was supposed to be cleaned because it was clogged. The service guy shoved a brush up onlyone end of the tube. The brush only went about 14 feet up. I called them to clean my air ducts ahead of my son's birth. I had cleaned the intake a couple of years ago and put an air filter on the intake, so it was still very clean but I needed the rest of the system cleaned. I have 3 cats and a dog and the previous owner had 2 dogs. They were reputed to have the most powerfulvacuumtruck available I our area and the representative said they have agitators and brushes, but that must just be for the intake cleaning because they weren't used at my home. On March 1, 2011 I had an appointment for my dryer vent to be cleaned. Jason called to say he was running an hour early. Fortunately I was home and the work began. I showed him up to my condo unit, which is located on the second floor. He said he did not need to see the dryer and only needed to figure out which outside vent was mine. Once located, he set up the ladder. The ground was uneven, so he placed a rock under one of the legs and asked me to hold the ladder for him. When he cleaned out the dryer vent the cap that I use was replaced with a cap my condo board will not accept. I asked if they could paint over it so the cap would match the others. I have spoken with a few people from Potomac and they have not done anything. I went out of my way by purchasing the paint so they wouldn?t have to replace, and they have ignored me. I do not feel that purchasing the paint was my responsibility, and would like them to replace the cap. They were to clean dryer vents and air ducts.

Customer received airduct & dryer vent cleaning on 12/6/10. The technician while cleaning they dryer vent found the guard to be wire mesh and filled/clogged. he reported it to the customer and explained the risks of fire due to clogging. He offered our bird guard for an additional $20. No mention of HOA issues at that time. Customer singed off on receipt & paid service fee including the $20 for the bird guard. This is a copy of the complaint that was filed with the BBB. To this date the company has not responded to the BBB regarding this complaint. We contracted with Potomac Services for Chimney Sweep services on or about September 23, 2010 via an advertisement through Angie's List. We paid $90.00 to Angie's List via Amex card. Sales pitch was good but they were not able to deliver anything on time. I guess time is the essence of any service and product and they failed miserably to identify their inability to perform the job on a given date. We talked to Mr. Porter about Air Duct cleaning based upon positive responses at Angies List. We did not shop around, they gave us an appointment for Sunday at 12 noon. We received two consecutive calls one hour before schedule that they wont be able to do the Air Duct Cleaning so we have to reschedule the appo... read more

WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER FOUR DAYS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED SERVICE DATE. WE LEFT VOICE MAILS AND SENT MULTIPLE EMAILS. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE CONTACT TO RESCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT. I PERSONALLY, WENT TO THE CUSTOMERS HOUSE THE FOLLOWING DAY AND COMPLETED THE WORK AT A DAY/TIME THAT WAS CONVENIENT FOR HIM. HE SUBSEQUENTLY REVISED HIS ANGIE'S LIST RATING AND RETRACTED HIS COMMENTS. WE WORK VERY HARD TO MAKE EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER HAPPY. AN UNFORTUNATE TURN OF EVENTS IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE.
