THe LCD display is almost unreadable for this label maker I returned this label maker due to the incredibly dim LCD display. Adjusting the contrast of the display did not help. My guess is that Brother chose to make the display so dim for improved battery life. But, if that is the case, they went way too far. I had to move the device 4-5 inches from my eyes to make out the text on the display. Any overhead light washes out the display. hard to opertate Very hard to operate (maybe it's me)starter tape does not go far.
Buy the power cord! The label maker does its job, but the 6-AAA batteries last approximately 5 seconds. They get drained even when the label maker is turned off. Save yourself the money on batteries and get the power cord.
Be aware it needs batteries None Include and Label tape only Sample included Overall the unit looks to be a decent label maker. The first thing I noted was batteries NOT included AND the tape cartridge is SAMPLE only. So addition purchases are required prior to first use. The label tape is not cheap and batteries are just another thing to buy. Other than that this looks like a decent label maker. And for an additional $30 you can buy a 9v plug in adapter....
Terrible out of the box experience but otherwise decent. The device doesn't come with batteries and only with a sample size cartridge. Made it more tedious to get up and running than it needed to be.
A lot of features for the price If you need to label things around the home or office, this model is very well priced and has a lot of options for fonts and tape types. It comes with a starter sized tape.

Screen Scratches I was so excited to get this! It has so many options for printing. It was going to help me stay organized for University. But when I plugged it in (bought a charger separately), I noticed on the screen scratches and residue. I don't know from whatx since it was packaged nicely with a plastic cover in a box. I may return/exchange it, because I'm disappointed that it came out of the box with scratches on the screen.
Evil product! Tape constantly jams, wastes tape around the margins, batteries run out quickly, A/C adapter isn't included and costs as much as the machine on the Brother website and worst of all, the replacement tape is STUPID expensive. Do NOT buy this piece of trash, you will regret it.
