Does not come with an AC adapter, wastes some label space I had experience with brother label makers at work and there they were a poor substitute for the $100 label makers that are usually made for such applications. I bought this on sale for myself expecting poor results, but this turned out to be better than expect. The sample label cartridge tape back comes in two parts and were much easier to remove than the single backed paper that I had used previously. What used to be the hardest part of making labels, is now easy. W... read more
Works great but, as many reviewers have pointed out Works great but, as many reviewers have pointed out, wastes a lot of label on each end. I've owned an older Brother's model that had some wastage but these newer models are designed to insure a steady flow of label purchases.
I've been disappointed in this unit I've been disappointed in this unit. As other negative reviews have said it does waste a lot of tape printing margins. The narrow margin setting is acceptable, but it prints two dots to show where to trim the label to after printing. If I had known I would have to trim each label I would not have bought this product. Brother says to cut along the dots, but that leaves part of two dots on one or both sides of the cut so you really have to cut twice (once on each side of the dots) or have la... read more
Wasted margins solution I see a lot of complaints about the wasted margins. Solution: write multiple labels at one time, skipping a space in between, then print/cut. Thus, you just have 1 wasted margin instead of x#. We have an older PT-1830 & we wasted a lot of single prints on margins before realizing the above. Hopefully this works on this newer model as well.
Lame. As for the actual label maker No included batteries. No included adapter. Lame. As for the actual label maker. Well, yeah I can't use it because I would assume that they would include batteries like everyone else does. six AAA batteries.. mentioned no where that I need them.
Comes without AC adapter Comes without AC adapter. You need to buy it separately. (9V, round plug). It does come with sample tape.
Waste of Tape!! So many positive reviews, I cant believe it. The label maker prints one inch of margin. I played with the settings for an hour and wasted my time until I finally checked the reviews here to see everyone was having the same problem. Brother should be providing a free tape for all wasted tape being used
Agree with Sharon Beverly I agree 100% with Sharon Beverly I just got mine today and was thinking the same thing . It was uses to much tape even at the smallest setting. I Still like it overall bc I am not going to be using it daily I only got it bc it was on sale for 10.00 black Friday so for me it works. But I understand for others they will use it at the office or something.
Minimizing label waste I've used different model P-Touch printers and they all seem to waste a lot of tape. However, you can minimize that by printing several different labels at the same time, with a few spaces in between. So don't print "Sage", and then "Thyme", and then "Rosemary", but print "Sage Thyme Rosemary", and use scissors to cut them apart. You can also print up to 9 copies of a label.
