Says low battery even with new batteries Read reviews before purchasing, other complained this unit displays low batteries even when you just replace them. Mine did the same and this unit has no options for an external power supply.

LOW battery w/NEW batteries?!! The product continues to say LOW battery when NEW batteries have been inserted on numerous occasions! Turn the product on & off several times and it continues to say LOW battery. Contacting Brother "support" was an exercise in futility - both at their website and on the phone.
Label maker Battery dies quickly and harder to use than previous model.
Handy It always says low battery even with brand new batteries. I have to hold the print button the entire time its printing otherwise it shuts off
Terrible product design This product should have never been released. Four AAA batteries just aren’t enough to power this current hungry device. Even with brand new name brand batteries this device can stop in the middle of the label printing because it requires too much current from the batteries and the supply voltage drops below the logic threshold. I ended up modifying my device to be powered by an external 5.5 V power supply and it works fine although now it isn’t as portable as before. Maybe if this device was designed... read more
Disappointed This is the second one I have owned. Both say “battery low” with new batteries in. The latest one said low battery almost directly from the package. It shuts down in the middle of trying to print.
OK for the $ if you don't mind changing batt.often The batteries dont last and there is not an alternative to powering this up. BUY PLENTY OF BATTERIES In you purchase this! No AC adapter. Limited text, is ok. The refill tapes are easy to find here on Amazon, but my other one was more reliable.
Low battery issue is not an isolated instance I've now purchased 10 of these at separate times over the past 2 years. The main reason is I have about $800 in "M" tapes in stock I need to get rid of and this is the only portable compatible unit I can find. Plus I keep leaving them at customer locations.
