The medical team helped me through my detox including nurse Berry who is extra fast with meds and puts in the extra effort to make you feel welcome and comfortable. She really loves her job and always has a positive attitude, Nurse Berry is the best.
Demetrius is the best motivational speaker I ever seen. He levels with you and keeps things on an even playing field. I always leave his groups feeling inspired and I like that he gives certificates because it gives a sense of accomplishment.
Ive got a lot out of the groups since starting my treatment, especially Amy's classes cos she keeps it interesting and her lessons are realistic. The topics are relevant to my life & help me understand my thoughts & behaviors so I can be successful.
Ms. Carol the treatment advocate always cheers me up. She can tell when Im having a bad day because she truly cares and checks in to see how Im feeling. She doesnt take nonsense and keeps it straight forward, but is very helpful and looks out for me.
I have had a wonderful experience at River Oaks, all of the staff has treated me with respect. Rick from maintenance is one of those people. He helped me fix my door when I needed it and if he sees me walking he will stop what hes doing and turn around to give me a ride. He goes out of his way to be there for the clients. I was scared when I first got here and went through the intake office, I didn't remember anyone from when I admitted because I was so out of it. But Ms. Katie from the business office remembered me and went out of her way to help talk to me about different financial options. She has a very warm spirit and she's easy to talk to. She's a good listener and quickly fixes issues because she's so great at her job.
The medical team is very interactive with the clients, they are always out checking in on everyone. Dr. Fahs is attentive, helpful, and funny. He is very consistent in his care and will even come looking for you if he cant find you to track you down to help and make sure you have everything you need. He really cares about his clients. I have seen him chase people down for their appointments.
I have never met a more caring nurse than Nurse Casey at River Oaks. She is persistent, friendly, and great at her job. Shes also funny and maintains structure during med pass which can get a little crazy. She helps motivate the clients and even offered us a christian play list of songs for our karaoke night. The ladies community loves Karah the therapist because she is so knowledgeable and gives us examples we can relate to. She shares her experience strength and hope about recovery. She is relatable and nice, and most of all she knows exactly what she's doing when she runs groups. We talked about warning signs for relapse prevention and things to be aware of in terms of triggers, with some great examples this morning that I can take home with me to be successful in recovery.
