Stephanie in house keeping is an incredibly hard worker. She is all over this place getting things done and helping people out by keeping rooms clean and doing literally everything. She gets me and my room mate towels and sheets if we need them, she helps out in the kitchen and even brings us cookies for the peer leader meetings. Stephanie is that person you can always depend on, one time my laundry got lost in the wash and found it for me the same day so I didnt have to go without.
Lovany and the whole medical team take care better than anyone. She always checks in on me and stop to chat. I feel like I can talk to her about anything. She makes me feel comfortable and more informed about my body and the healing process. I learned about post acute withdrawl syndrome and it helped me not feel discouraged with getting my short term memory back and taking the time I need to heal from the damage done to my brain and body from so many years of drug use. I have more hope for the future from coming here.
Dr. Vega is always authentic and direct in conversation. She educates on what will help and tells you exactly what to expect. I always feel better after meeting with her and she has helped me tremendously through my detox and finding the right meds.
My therapist Andy is just an incredible person who is well grounded and makes me feel good when we have our weekly conversations. He never judges me and give great advice. Im grateful to have a counselor who is so easy to talk to.
Dr. Fahs gets the kudos from the ladies community because he will literally chase you down to make sure you dont miss your doctors appointment. Hes one of the most relatable doctors Ive ever seen, he understands your concerns and actually addresses them in a timely manner. Not only that but he is a good looking man which doesnt hurt on the eyes!
My therapist Dasman is so helpful and always smiling and happy to help anyone he sees. He has a really nice accent and makes sure everyone is getting a good lesson in class. I like all the activities they have to keep us busy and the sense of community is strong here, I play volleyball every day after class and I love to do the art night. My guy Tim gave two pairs of his own shoes to help out when I didnt have nothing. My soles were falling apart from walking so much and I didnt have any way to get shoes of my own so he came through and made sure I had some decent shoes so I could be comfortable. Its little stuff like that that means the most. Hes been our from surgery but we hope hes coming back soon and doing well because he makes this place so much better, he shares about recovery and always has a word of encouragement to say when youre having a rough day.
Thomas always helps out above and beyond his regular job duties. One day he came into group to help out somebody who didnt have any toothpaste, he went and found him toothpaste and made sure he had everything he needs. He explains the process and the rules to everyone to make sure we can be successful in treatment. Shout out to Thomas for being an all around awesome individual.
Gene in maintenance has been so helpful, whenever we are out of coffee or need a ride across campus he makes sure to get it done. He fixes everything and is always available. He helped us get our outside space all fixed up and never makes us wait for something to get done. I can always go to him with a question or a request. He keeps everything running smoothly and is a familiar face in an unfamiliar place. He deserves kudos for all he does to keep our campus clean and making sure River Oaks is a nice place to get clean.
