I had Dr. Wahlgren, she performed a biopsy on one of my moles. She spoke to me like I was a child the whole time, telling me she was doing a removal instead of a biopsy. She injected me with the shot to numb the area and immediately started. I told her I could feel it and she waited only a few more seconds before slicing again. It will now likely scar. Oh my goodness...I see others have the exact SAME problems I've been having for the last few months with this office. I've been patient and understanding but today is the THIRD time I've had problems with a lab order from this clinic. My daughter sees Dr. Wahlgren for acne. For her to begin her medication, she was required to have two blood draws a month apart and then blood draws every 30 days. I am a patient of Dr. Christina Wahlgren. Dealing with this office is always extremely difficult; getting paperwork for blood work faxed, scheduling appointments, getting prescription refills, etc. In person, the doctor is nice and seems understanding, so I'm not sure if the problem lies with her or her staff. I'm not sure why, but the office continually seems to forget that they were supposed fax papers or call something in to the pharmacy, and then when I call to follow up, they act as though they have no clue what I'm tal... read more

Administratively terrible! The first time I went they had no record of my appt but Dr. Freeney was in the front office and overheard me, and saw me. The second time I went they had no record of my appt again! So I produced the handwritten card they had given me and I got to see the Dr! On Feb 24 I wanted to see Dr Freeney for follow-up but she has left the practice and I got an appt with Dr. Maldonado for 11:45. At 12:30 I was still sitting in the waiting room. I am writing about Dr. Maldonado. After waiting for 45 minutes, she breezed into the room with not even a " I'm sorry for the wait". She with me all of 5 minutes. The quickest exam I've ever had. I won't go back. I happen to be 66 years old and on Medicare. I'm aware that Medicare doesn't pay doctors much, but have some class lady.

I kind of want to give this place one extra star, if only because Dr. Maldonado does good work, however, there are any number of drawbacks to this facility despite Dr. Maldonado's skills and good bedside manner. In brief: they are always running extraordinarily late, and the staff are incredibly cold. They do their jobs, but they go no further to ensure pleasant customer service. I have similar experience as John M.'s. The same doctor, Dr. Igrid Freeny, told me at my first office visit that she could do a cryosurgery to move one of my brown spots and before the actual treatment, she could do a test first for FREE. I agreed. But the test didn't work, and I had to scheduled two follow up visits to try to have it fix. However, after three tries, not only did it not work, the spot was getting larger and darker. This is the last place any body should do business with ,, .Ingrid Freeny quoted me a cost of $1300.00 to $2000.00 for the procedure and she would not charge for the Lab work. When I received the bill it was $2867.00 plus the Lab work cost of $200.00.. I called the office and complained and the bill was revised down to $1944.00 if I would pay with in 30 days. The service I get from Carol at California Skin Institute is not only skilled, but also extremely personable. She made me feel completely comfortable and cared for. She has the best 'bedside manner' of anyone I've seen, and under her care I have seen results I didn't think possible. I see Carol on a regular basis for skin care treatments and products.
