Went to restaurant week at Ela's wonderful food and interesting wine pairings. Waitress was professional and didn't try to be our friend. One annoying thing occurred. Ordered a Dewars. Listed as$8, was charged $10 because it was served "on the rocks". This was a first for someone who has ordered Dewars as a pre dinner cocktail for 40+ years. Seemed like a silly rip off on a check of $120. Great meal marred by silliness.
Our dining experience at Ella's was wonderful. The atmosphere was great. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. The view from our table was breathtaking. We went during restaurant week and had absolutely marvelous time. We cannot wait to go back.
We thought the tastings menu was excellent. The shrimp and grits cake plus tuna tartare was a great combination, as was the short rib and lobster. My only criticism was that the hot dishes could have been a little warmer, in fact someone on the next table sent the shrimp and grits cake back for a reheat.
We visited for the first time during Restaurant week. Although the food and wine were very good, our waiter was a disappointment. Maybe he was having a bad night or didn't feel well, but whatever the case, his attitude towards the four of us really soured us on this first experience at Ela's. If I were to guess, I suspect he resented the fact that it was Restaurant week, or maybe just wasn't in the mood to work another table that evening. But for what it's worth, we dine out every Friday night and this was the first time we'... read more
My husband and I took advantage of Chamber Restaurant week and went to Ela's for dinner on a Friday night. The Prix Fixe menu was great and - as usual - ALL of the food was delicious. I especially loved the appetizer, which was a small sample of tuna tartare and a special version of shrimp & grits (with the grits served as a fried item with shrimp on top). YUMMM We frequent Ela's and had tried a lot of the regular menu items so the Restaurant Week menu gave us a chance to try something different. It was a quiet night and we ... read more
We were lucky to try this restaurant during the Chamber (Hilton Head) Restaurant Week. My husband and I tried their wonderful tasting menu. The lobster bisque was delicious, as was the ahi tuna on flatbread. The bread included hush puppies. For our entree we ate the lobster and short ribs, which my husband enjoyed, but I'm not a meat eater and ate only the lobster. I took home the meat for my husband to enjoy later. For dessert, we ate key lime pie and cheesecake. It was great to try different items from the menu. The view o... read more
We were there during Restaurant Week and chose their 5-course dinner being featured during the evening we dined there. All of the courses were exceptional from the appetizer to the dessert. We especially enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the grouper. The Key lime pie was also tops. Our server did an excellent job and the atmosphere was perfect. Outside dining is available during warmer weather. We'll go back next time we are in Hilton Head.
We visited Ela's for Restaurant Week here on Hilton Head Island, SC. It had a wonderful selection of choices for this event. It had a five course tasting menu, for the appetizer we selected Shrimp & Grits and Ahi Tuna Tartar, second course Maine Lobster Bisque and Pear Arugula Salad, intermezzo was Blood Orange Sorbet, entree course my wife had Short Ribs & Lobster and I had Grouper & Pork Tenderloin, then for dessert course we both had Cheesecake. We also had a wine pairing option for this meal that included Bouvet Brut fro... read more
We were told about this place by friends from Orange County, CA. So, we decided to try it for lunch. Everything was very good and we plan to try a dinner here this coming week. My wife had the fish and chip and I had the Grouper sandwich. Both were very good. We had an appetizer as well along with a bottle of wine. My wife didn't finish all her fish nuggets, so requested they be boxed to take home. The serve brought out our bill and then totally forgot to box the leftovers. She apologized, but did nothing to try to correct t... read more
