This is the 6th home I have built and the second Smith-Douglas home and this was the worst experience ever. Poor quality, constructed too fast and lots of corners cut. Paint was unacceptable with sides of trim being painted the wall color or not at all. Caulk and paint all over floors and the edges where paint meets tubs, corners, etc. was sloppy. Cheap fixtures installed.
This was my first time using SmithDouglas. It was not a great experience overall, even my realtor mentioned this was the worst experience she’s had and she’s dealt with years of builders.
The warranty department is awful. Can't get responses back.
They're not accommodating to the buyer's needs. They recently gave me the home and made a big mess with the painting and my the cabinet was fully broken. Even though, they're fixing it, but they're not doing a quality report before giving the house to the homeowner, and they're in a hurry. The dry wall waste not cleaned, they just applied polish; my entire floor got messed up and when I asked for them to help me with the polish they said that it's not included in the warranty. They did not follow through with what they promised.
They made promises in the pre walk. It took three months for them to respond.
