Communication was good especially with Megan. My objective from the start was to get a VA loan with 0 points because we intended to pay it off as soon as our current house sold. Things were going smoothly until 5 days before the closing date, when Wes told us that we had to pay almost 1 percentage point at closing (an extra $4,000). Here's the deal, they want to sell mortgages upstream. They have no intention of being a mortgage servicer. They sell loans, on a small scale, but not any differently than what caused the financial meltdown over a decade ago. You should be able to skip these punks and get your mortgage from the people who will service it. There's no reason for middlemen like these weasels to get to grift off the top of your mortgage. Mortgage Loan Officers and Mortgage Loan Assistants were patient and shared all information needed for my mortage loan. All representatives answered my questions by clearly explaining the questions I asked regarding my loan. Once and only once a representative gave me incorrect information, but quickly (within minutes) called me back and emailed me to advise of the error. My wife and I worked with the Raleigh location and had a horrendous experience. We're also not typically people to complain as we're usually laid back and go with the flow but in this case, we ended up canceling our refinance with Southern Trust and going with a different company despite having a slightly higher interest rate and needing to pay for another appraisal (because Southern Trust won't forward theirs to anyone else).
