Me and my boyfriend came here by 9PM and was not even informed that they would closing at 9:30 so we still were charged full price and i just saw in a quick tip that rolls would be half off after 9. They didn't even tell us that we had a free sake included in our AYCE. The service was terrible. They seem nice at first, but it gets to the feeling where they make you feel awkward. (or could be that we were last minute customers and since it was a Friday night they knew they wouldn't be out right away so they could have fun) ou... read more
Enjoyed our experience here. We had a friend take us here for dinner. The price is a little higher and like many people have said, the location isn't really ideal, but it is nice. Food quality was higher end. We liked the rolls we had but found ourselves pretty full quickly. So our experience is a little stilted. Usually we plan sushi to be ravenous and get our money's worth. We were seated in the "travel" area outside of Bistro Roxy. I don't usually sit away from the bar but someone else was paying, so my mouth stayed shut.... read more
The opportunity to eat a lot of decent sushi with good service. Kune was my sushi chef and we had a good time over sushi. The baked mussels are good, the yellow tail was fresh, and the Sage roll had great flavor. Service is okay. The manager Josh definitely works harder than the servers, but the job gets done. I have had fresher fish, but overall for All You Can Eat, I can't complain. I would come back the next time I visit Reno.
I came here this weekend to test this ayce sushi out since I'm currently boycotting another ayce sushi joint in reno. Really had a great experience here. Josh, the manager, was friendly and great. He came by and checked up on us pretty often. Mike, the sushi chef, was friendly and helpful as well. The food was good. There's appetizers on the AYCE sushi menu which is awesome. They do limit the rolls on the menu but Mike made us some off menu items also which was a nice surprise. The fish was really fresh and it was really tas... read more
I took my two daughters here, ages 14 and 11, they enjoyed it. We had the AYCE dinner. They did not mention that sake was included, tho I would not of had any, it's the point. They offered us miso soup when we sat down, we declined. Sushi chef was very nice to us. Sushi was very good overall, no mushy rice or old fish. My girls had the orange sorbet...OMG, that was soooooo good. The menu does not state you can only have one dessert, my youngest wanted to order a second one they would not let her (I removed a star for that). ... read more
Went last night for the first time with my wife. We decided to give it a shot since our favorite Kokopellis was packed with a 45 min. to an hour wait. We were seated at the bar immediately. Good things were that we a had a great chef which made our dinner experience a little better. Staff were very attentive in clearing our plates. Little rice and well done with just the right hint of vinegar topped with a decent portion of fish. You receive free appetizers with your AYCE. Bad things we're limited rolls and selection for AYC... read more
Slowish to arrive service, then good quality. Nice location by the fountain in the Eldo, but also not. The acoustics for this room, despite the water mitigating the sound, are loud and untempered. If there's live music at the upstairs Roxy lounge, it's way too loud here, upsetting a comfortable eating ambience. The restaurant is roped off from the walkway around the west curve of Neptune's fountain and feels a little tacked on to the edge of Roxy. With so many people walking by and the proximity to another restaurant, you do... read more
A group of us was craving sushi on Saturday and we decided to try Sushi Sake. I have to say it is the best sushi experience I have had. Khoun, our sushi chef was friendly and extremely entertaining. The servers were always there refilling waters and clearing plates. The service was top notch. While the menu is not as extensive as other sushi joints, the ratio of fish to rice is superior! I hate having long rolls that are huge due to the huge amount of rice. I found the sushi to be the right temperature and unlike the other r... read more
I heard both ends of the spectrum about this place. Some of my friends thought they were excellent, others bemoaned the long wait and service. Pros: -very good rice. Superior in fact to any other sushi I've had in reno. It's all about the texture here. no smushed up rice, nice individual grains that hold together well and are seasoned lightly with slightly sweet vinegar. -best tobiko I've had in Reno. I generally ask for tobiko to be omitted from all my sushi orders in Reno because of one too many experiences with old mush... read more
