We were there with our kid, and the waiter took my order and my wife’s order, then bolted from the table without getting an order from our kid. Then the hostess got our kid’s order, and the waiter came back and took his order again. Then our kid’s food came out ten minutes before ours. Very odd.
We really wanted to like the new location/Ted Bulletin in Ballston since we eat out a lot, and try to not get stuck in a rut of eating in the same restaurants. Been Arlington residents for 26 years and look for new places to try. However, this will not be on our return list. We liked the vibe and look of the place. Unfortunately the food was just okay. Waited to be seated and then another 10 minutes for anyone to come, so went to bar to ask if we could have some service. Was told they’d be there in a minute and continued with two people, one seemingly working on register and the other just standing there. Finally the latter came over to take our drink order. We left after the drinks, which at least the bar tender picked up after sort of seeking a thank you from us. Too crowded and noisy for us.
I am still honestly reeling from how dirty the restaurant was. We were seated in the very back room. The chairs had disgusting, questionable stains on them. The floor throughout the restaurant surely hadn’t been swept in days. All our water glasses had dried food and stuff on them. I’ve literally never written a bad review in my life. This place was shockingly dirty. I keep thinking about it.
Our dining experience was very disappointing. We liked our waiter (very friendly) but drinks and food (multiple courses!) arrived all at the same time. One person in our party of four was served wine early on but the rest of us waited 30 minutes for our cocktails. Instead, appetizers and salads came after waiting 25 minutes, then entrees five minutes later and all were cold. Was told bartender was backed up and kitchen was having problems. The pretzel appetizer was hot but the fondue cheese was missing. Three of us had our meals served barely Luke warm. The medium steak on the Mexican salad was overcooked. The tomato soup was cold as well as the pot roast. At 6pm which is early, there was no lobster pot pie. It is listed on the regular menu and the three course menu. Out at 6pm? Service was fair. Wife had the salmon and that evening was violently sick from both ends Not a good night and food in general was only fair institutional level food. We will not return.
Service was extremely slow. A baby carriage blocked our table. My dinner was cold but the restaurant is pretty.
