Everything was top-notch. The combination of the historic, fabulous food, attention to detail, and our server--who just happened to be a great photographer, made this an especially enjoyable birthday celebration site for a very discriminating diner. (He was back there in less than a week with another group celebrating his birthday.) The Commodore will be my go to, first-choice restaurant when I am asked to pick a location.
Our experience started off great...our server was prompt and friendly. The appetizers were prompt and our cocktails were excellent. As the night went on the service became slow (not sure if the kitchen was backed up or what). We decided to order dessert and there was a long wait between the menus showing up and placing our order...then even longer before our drinks showed up and eventually dessert. Food was great, cool space!
Had nice table in dining room. Service, drinks and food outstanding. Enjoyed the poached salmon and sole dish. Creme brûlée was great. Want to return soon.

Not exactly what I expected for service. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It was an old fashioned starter with a modern twist of pickled cauliflower, kim chee , beets and other tasty treats. The cauliflower soup was amazing, as were our entrees pork scallopini and sole. We ended our meal with the butter cake...everythi... read more
With such wonderful ambiance we were concerned that the food might come second - but that was so not the case. The presentation and taste were perfection, and we are most definitely coming for cocktails and dinner again!
The waitress was nice but not interactive. Apps and salad great but steak was ordered medium rare and came out cold, a steak should sizzle on your plate and it had more grizzle than a 32.00 steak should have. The room was too cold for enjoyable dining, had to leave my coat on during dinner (very awkward) and I had a great dress on! We will try it again but if not up to standard will move on to other venues. Great atmosphere really hope our next experience is better. One last note, when making reservation was asked if celebra... read more
