The Cotswold Home accepted my husband for care at very short notice, he being in hospital, able to leave but no care package in place. I cannot express my admiration for the standard of care and all the staff which was, and are, excellent. He returned home "100% better" in his words and was very happy there, so much so that he is happily returning for 2 weeks respite care in June which gives me 100% peace of mind. For him to go there was the best decision I have made on his behalf.

Business response:

Thank you for your positive comments.

The Cotswold Home is an outstanding care and nursing service. I would have no hesitation in making an unreserved recommendation. Staff turnover is non-existent, management are proactive and the atmosphere is calm, peaceful and contented. Anyone who is able to be a resident of the Cotswold Home is immensely privileged!

My mother had limited mobility but was encouraged to participate in many activities, the occasional outing and made friends at the dining table! She appreciated the excellent facilities. Gradually the physical abilities declined until she required full nursing care. This was well-planned and executed with medical input as necessary. Her choice of pureed food and thickened drinks were always nicely presented and given right to the end. She retained her mental faculties and astute perception, enjoying conversations with staff ... read more

I feel the home is comfortable but on entry it is more like a hotel - reception area and dining room in particular. My father's room appeared to be smaller than some of the others but maybe that was his choice. I feel that fresh flowers in the public areas should be provided by the home and not the resident's families who are given a very small budget to work with.

Business response:

Thank you for this lovely review. We have recently refurbished our reception area to incorporate a lounge area for residents and visitors as this was something they requested. We have been very distinct in our furnishing choice to ensure we use local designs. We are very fortunate that our Gloucester Committee have always had volunteers who come into the home and assist us with our flowers in the public area for which a budget is supplied. The floral displays are beautiful and the residents love having fresh flowers on their... read more

I had 10 days respite care and found it a very agreeable time. The staff were most attentive and kind and gave one the feeling of being very safe. The food was very good and very varied. I did find the bed and chair in my room rather uncomfortable but we always like our own beds. I would recommend the home to anyone as the standard of care is extremely high.

An excellent established where my late mother was cared for superbly. I would recommend The Cotswold Home without hesitation.

My sister was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer aged 80 and decided she wished to be looked after in a home for her final months. The Cotswold Home has been outstanding in every way. The staff have been particularly caring and sympathetic to her needs, and when the end came they could not have done more to try and make her comfortable.

My cousin was a resident for about ten years. We chose the home together after a long search and decided that this was a place to suit my cousin. It was built for purpose and had pleasant seating areas where residents could get together in small groups for coffee and talk and no large sitting room with TV where all were expected to gather! Alternatively one could be alone in ones room or join in various group activities. The staff were very friendly, but treated residents and individuals. Later in life there were trained nur... read more

My mother came to Cotswold House in 2010. She received excellent and sensitive care having been recently widowed. She thrived in this new and wonderful environment until 2015 when she became less able, her mobility and sight was deteriorating and was needing extra nursing care. This was organised and sensitively attended to. She was happy with the extra care given and feel very secure. It was explained to her that this was her home and where she would stay until the end. It was a wonderful experience, beautifully administere... read more
