We’ve been here a few times and we were happy to bring our friends to dinner tonight. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. She was MIA most of the time. We just sat there - drink less for at least 15 minutes. Had to remind her she forgot to take a food order. She was distracted with something else. It was busy- but she paid no attention to anything. We would have drunk more and eaten more-dessert wasn’t even offered- loss of revenue. So our friends weren’t too impressed.
Wow! How very disappointing. The service was poor and the food was no better than your local school cafeteria! Really can’t think of a reason to ever go back. There are other fine dining options in the Indy area. I would suggest you chose one of those instead.
Enjoyed the food and table service as always. I used to think I was crazy but I hadn’t been in awhile so able to confirm. The front desk is the least friendly on the avenue. They don’t say hello, they don’t ask question, they just look at you and wait for you to do all the work. This doesn’t ruin a meal but something about that hostess stand that makes the experience less than a 5 star rating. Might be awhile before I come back.
I recently visited The Fountain Room, hoping for an exceptional dining experience, but was left disappointed. The service was noticeably lacking—our server didn’t seem attentive, and they didn’t have basic utensils readily available such as soup spoons or steak knives. The food, while decent, did not justify the high price point. Flavors were underwhelming and didn’t live up to the premium cost. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected much more in both service and quality. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
Not for special occasions. We received what we ordered and the entree (steak) was good. Everything else was similar to a QSR dining experience. Poor service, mediocre apps and sides, and the minimal engagement from our server did not recognize or ask our reason for being there (birthday).
We dined at the Fountain Room for the first and last time... I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant that seems to be so utterly confused about its identity. The vinyl booth seats and attempt at art deco paint have a definite Americana Diner vibe... but the menu prices are $$$$. So the casual vibe is completely at odds with the high prices you would expect in fine dining. This dichotomy continues. The restaurant offers a Chef's Tasting Menu which starts with grilled cheese, immediately followed by beef tartare. Yet ag... read more
Ambiance is very nice. Cocktails were good but nothing special. Food was very mediocre and not worth the price. Celebrated a 40th birthday here and unfortunately no one in our party was impressed.
Love this place been there before. This time steak was under cooked and cold.
One main dish was very salty. It seems like the chef accidentally added too much salt.
