My mother has been resident for over three years. She feels safe and well cared for and I am confident in the staff who treat her with respect and kindness. My mother's move to a care home was something I was very worried about. It was sad for me to see her loose her independence. It has however worked out better than I could have hoped thanks to the excellent staff and good management.

The home is pleasantly situated in a quiet area of Waltham overlooking a park. The staff are always friendly and the management run the home in a professional and competent manner. Communication is good and any problems with family are notified to us immediately. There are activities daily so every day is different. There are many walks around the home and this enables you to take family out easily.

Mum has been at The Grove for over a year now. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I have never smelled urine etc as I have in other homes. It is a nice small, compact home. The grounds are lovely and for the residents to face the public park is lovely, to watch the general public weakling dog etc is nice. The activities are wonderful. So many to choose from and they are regular and organised. A tribute to the hard work the activity organiser - she does a superb job. It is very difficult watching for my mum sink deep ... read more

My father was a permanent resident until his failing health caused his death. During his time at The Grove he received excellent care and attention together with genuine compassion and friendship. Dad was always treated with the greatest respect and dignity. I felt no matter what time of the day his family called the care was 24/7 for him and us. I submitted a review after dads death to say what an excellent home The Grove was. I believe they are worthy of this update review due to the aftercare they have shown making me fee... read more

My husband and I have just enjoyed a pre Christmas meal with my mum at The Grove. We were served by the care staff, greeted on arrival and seated in a beautifully decorated dining room. We were given an option of wine or a soft drink. We had previously chosen our meals. We had opted for prawn cocktail, which was served with a fresh crisp salad, followed by Beef in Guinness, dumpling, mashed potatoes, cabbage and carrots. The beef was beautifully tender and delicious, but the cabbage was over cooked For dessert my husband had... read more

My mother has recently died, but was in The Grove Care Home for approx. 14 months. My mother had dementia and the care & attention of all the employees has been exemplary. I couldn't have wished for more love, attention & respect towards my mother. My mother's room had its own kitchen, bathroom and the main room was big enough for a bed, chairs, draw/cupboard space and tv. There was a large lounge downstairs for residents with TV and a quiet room. The home had activities for the residents and sometimes entertainment i.e. sin... read more

We arrived to visit my brother-in-law at 1030 and found him still in bed, needing toileting, unable to find his call button and unable to reach the wall-mounted pull cord. I pulled the cord, a carer arrived to acknowledge the call within 10 minutes and others arrived at 1055. Shortstaffing as usual, profits before care.

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your visit to your brother-in-law. We sincerely apologise for the experience you described, and we understand the importance of addressing these issues promptly. Following our conversations, I am pleased to inform you that we have taken steps to resolve the matter. We have reviewed the incident with our staff team and have ensured that appropriate measures are in place to prevent such occurrences in the future. Our priority is always the well-being and comfort of... read more

I sometimes feel that the home is understaffed, especially at weekends and evenings. It often takes a very long time for staff to let you in, especially a problem when I have the service user with me (at weekends and after office hours). I often think my mother isn't encouraged to drink enough as there is often not a jug provided (unable to get a drink herself). Their response to a recent illness was excellent.

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for The Grove Care Home, we appreciate all comments and feedback. Please be assured that our team at The Grove are here to help and support your mum at all times. My door is always open, and I will be more than happy to discuss your concerns with you next time you visit. I also send regular surveys to gain feedback on the care we provide if you wish to fill out one of these the next time they are published for any further queries.

Friendly, caring staff. Bells aren't always answered as promptly as the resident would like. The resident finds she is left sitting on the toilet whilst the staff member pops elsewhere. Not always the case but not always comfortable or dignified. Staff seemed overloaded with work. Feel activities have been on a back burner because of the activities member being off sick. Not always explained to the resident if to happen. Sometimes the room is used for meetings, etc. even though it is known the room is to be used for an activ... read more
