After being away from Grand Haven for a year I came back for a bar crawl around town. Tonight -- the Friday of Memorial Day weekend -- I visited the Kirby expecting the same fun atmosphere. The occupancy was nowhere near that of Coast Guard Fest or the like at approximately 1:00am. Ugh! I just posted in the wrong place! Anyways, I'm wondering how many people have also gotten sick recently from eating at The Kirby? We had pizza upstairs celebrating our son's birthday on Saturday the 25th. The service was good. We all ordered different pizza's and my husbands didn't quite taste right, not necessarily bad, just a little off. The rest of them tasted pretty good other than the crust being over cooked. The food may be fantastic. I have no idea. The service was so poor we left.
We made the mistake of eating here, wish we had gone somewhere else. I ordered a steak sandwich which turned out to be nothing more than a hamburger, when I complained the waitress offered to get me something else which they wound up charging me for which I was not expecting. My husband ordered tea which was awful so he asked for a Mountain Dew, they charged him for tea and Mountain Dew. The food was mediocre and customer service was horrible. Worst dining experience I have had in a while.

I am disgusted that we took our friends who came to stay with us at a house we rented here in Grand Haven. We took them to your restaurant and had a horrible experience. I understand this is a tourist area in the summer, but what you charged them was horrible! First off they both ordered Caesar salads and got chicken on them. I had the Parmesan Chicken. The chicken was very tasty, however the artichokes, roma tomatoes and asparagus were...very mediocre. There was zero seasoning on them and the dish was served with lots of ... water/liquid substance?? Our spinach and goat cheese app was really good. It was fun to try out something new, but we probably won't be back.
Mediocre food and service. Just a chain restaurant in disguise.
