Let me preface with the fact that I am not a person that leaves reviews often or ever really. I have had an ok experience with this vet throughout the roughly 5 years I have been going to them. Not amazing but not terrible. Today I have decided I will never be going back to any thrive location but especially Decatur. 1. Their 5 minute "grace period" is the most ridiculous policy. I'm not sure if they've been purchased or are under new management or what, but we started coming here about two years ago, and while I used to recommend them to folks, things have gone downhill in the past 6 months. It used to be called "Thrive Affordable Vet Care," and obviously now the "affordable" part has been removed. Prices have doubled, which I could accept if care had remained at the same level. First visit was good, although it was expensive. The receptionist told me that when I return for a recheck we can see a vet tech which would be less expensive. Made the appointment over the phone and when I asked about the tech visit they didn't know anything about it. Made the appointment, got there and the receptionist told me the phone center staff has a language barrier - so don't trust them. I pretty much only use Thrive for vaccinations. During our last appointment the doctor prescribed a supplement for anxiety. I walked in and requested a prescription refill for my dog and was told to come back at 12:30p for pick up. When I returned the receptionist advised that the doctor who originally prescribed was not there and the doctor on duty could not refill without an appointment to evaluate my dog. I'd recommend a smaller get practice for pets. I have the membership and find it hard to get an appointment with anyone. Thrive doesn't care. I don't understand the value of membership. They say you get a "free" visit, but now they have a new charge they add on. They couldn't handle my Frenchie to cur his nails. This place is a joke. I'm looking into somewhere else to take my baby

My cat and I were only 12ish min late to our appointment but the relief doctor working at the time wouldn't see us because we were too late and the front desk person told us the vet is working on the next patient. My dear cat died a few hours afterwards. The vet likely wouldn't have helped given the situation. But at the least the vet could have checked on the cat with the remainder of the appointment, even if it's only a few minutes. When I found out how expensive it waWhen I found out how expensive it was to analyze my dogs masses, they gave me permission to get that done elsewhere, checked off a Box, and had me sign a form and then dumped them instead so there's no way to know for sure she hasn't got cancer. They charged me more than I was quoted without the analysis, and the manager basically told me it was bc of what I did signing that form (like it's my fault they aren't paying attention). Stay away. Maybe I hit a bad day but my cat almost died and they did not listen to my very specific handling instructions. Bad vibe, bad communication and bad experience.

I liked my first visit to Thrive Affordable Vet Care at the Northside location but this location is a complete and utter disappointment. I was about to pull into the parking lot for my visit and granted I was 6 mins late due to me being 7 months pregnant trying to transport 2 dogs and one has severe anxiety when riding in a car. The vet tech calls and asks if I'm ready and I said no I'm actually just pulling in.
