My Mom was here for physical and occupational therapy after a hip fixation surgery. The staff was exceptional and very helpful and kind. Our experience was very pleasant. I was able to be there alongside my Mom as she stayed away from home. I would come and stay 12 hours a day without any negative comments in regards to my being there. It was our first time experiencing a 4 week stay at a facility; but the Valley Pointe staff made the experience enjoyable and stress free. When locating a Skilled Nursing Facility/Rehab for placement of a loved one,it's usually our nose that gives the first impression. At Valley Pointe in Castro Valley there was no offensive smell, my first impression was cleanliness. One of my parents was here recently, for two weeks. I was not impress with this facility, old building needs renovated ,it is not modernized and obvious things broken, furniture old /outdated the room mom in was small ,separated by curtains that arent clean and with other residences who are territorial hoggin the space shared by 3 beds,crammed in! bed she had not comfortable and they werent changing sheets,blankets daily. everything looks outdated and uncomfortable. my mom was at this facility 1 week and ended up with UTI/SEPSIS... she was acting delirious ,not eating and ... read more

Bedlam dementia patients scream for help 23 hours a day help does not respond Staff is over worked they try but have NOT ENOUGH. I came to recover but fear I will be worse if I get out Alive

Although the nursing staff at this facility were very respectful and helpful to my mom, I would not say the same for the social worker Joan. The anxiety and frustration she has caused to our family because of her ineptness to do her job resulted in my mom being discharged without the necessary equipment for her release to her home! To add insult to injury, the request for delivery of the equipment was not received by the agency she provided to us, again resulting in discomfort and adding to the safety issues my mom already ... read more

Deserves no Stars! Nightmare!! do not send your loved ones here. My Father fell and had a big laceration on his head while 5 plus staff members were with him. He suffered from Dementia and they were trying to put him on a Psychiatric hold instead of providing care for him. Are these trained license nurses??? Shouldn't they know the symptoms of dementia??? I was at Valley Point in Castro Valley. I was at this facility for 5 weeks. I was at Valley Point 2 years ago and it was good, Charlie Dominique cared about the residents. Two years later and what a nightmare. I had a roommate who played her Mexican music full blast. My next roommate has dementia and the staff expected me to watch her. I had two physical therapists who, pushed me when I told them no, my knees were bothering me or I felt sick. After falling at home, my mother was sent to Eden Hospital Trauma Center as a precaution. The next day she was admitted to Valley Pointe for rehab. The staff seemed friendly enough. She was there for a month where she rapidly and shocking declined both physically and mentally at an alarming rate. After a few days there my mother told she had an encounter with one of the nurses. There are some great RNs here, but their care cannot overcome the poor management or the extreme disregard of the doctor & his nurse practitioner who cover 3 other facilities. Their primary contact person, Sarah, is all smiles and lies. I don't want to provide details on my loved one who was in their care, but Valley Pointe's neglect caused them permanent damage.
