NO NO NO NO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT LIVE HERE. Cars were broken into and stolen while I lived here, and there are no cameras around to catch the thieves. AVOID AT ALL COSTS The apartment itself was awesome. EVERYTHING ELSE was the ABSOLUTE worst. Management is the most incompetent group of people that I have ever interacted with in my life. They added on charges before moving in and after moving out for no reason at all. They cannot do simple arithmetic. Price Gouging - Management does not deliver on promises I've lived here for a couple years now and have made quite a few friends in the building. After conversation with most of them, it has come to light that their base offer at the end of your lease is to increase your rent by $250. If you say you're going to move out, they immediately contact you back with a $50 offer. This has happened with at least 4 people that I've talked to. Worst Place to Live / Great Location Awful Management and Maintenance. Washer and Dryer Room doesn't have a light and $2.08 a wash and $2.08 to dry - are you kidding me.
Don't Move Here! We were made a promise of new appliances that have yet to materialize. It's false advertising to say an apartment is going to receive updated appliances and then to just pretend it was never communicated to a tenant or customer. The failure to respond to maintenance requests is the most APPALLING part of our experience at West Village. Not Quite Worth It Upsides: Right in downtown Durham, and very convenient to restaurants and nightlife. Pretty decent amenities like pools and gym, and front office is usually nice. Downsides: Apts can be loud, have gotten REALLY expensive, and have some issues with repairs and maintenance.
Terrible staff The staff is absolutely horrible. They raised rent by $500 within a single year and lied about reasons not to return security deposits. They couldn't prove any damages and refused to pay. They completely ignore maintenance requests. Cars get broken into all of the time in the residential parking lots. Your property is not safe. The lack of walls that go go the ceiling is very disruptive if you have guests or roommates.
