I recently went to the Westville Hudson location with friends. I had eaten at Westville in the West Village about 6 years ago and remember it being good, fresh, high quality food, this most recent trip however was very disappointing. Everything was nice (service, ambiance, wine) except for the food. I had the breaded chicken cutlet with mushrooms and bok choy. They brought us the wrong dish (which was conveniently almost three times the price of what we'd ordered, but both were macaroni and cheese, so we didn't realize until we saw the bill and we're like "wait...what we ordered was $8...why did they charge us $22???"). When we pointed out that there had been a problem, the waiter was extremely defensive, blamed us, didn't apologize, and ended up making us pay for most of what we didn't want. The restaurant is too noisy. And the service, a little bit confusing.
We could not hear to have a conversation.The busboys kept throwing dishes into a bin and made crashing noises everytime. It was busy so the crashing dishes was almost constant. It made the whole experience of dining there very uncomfortable. I would not go back, which is a shame as the food was pretty good.
We arrived at 11:30am. One of the first parties to get seated. It took over 50 mins to get our lunch order, Which for a lunch is unacceptable. We started with one woman as our server, she had no clue what he soup were and seemed less than enthusiastic to go ask. Then we ended up getting switches to a completely different server. This is an easy one. They overcooked my eggs, and didn't bring out fresh ones until 10 minutes after I finished the rest of my plate. After zero acknowledgement of any inconvenience, I asked to speak to the manager. What a guy. Condescending, unapologetic, accusatory. I was flabbergasted... I've never had a service experience like it anywhere. The customer is wrong here. The other locations have been great, but do yourself a favor and don't come to this one.
Our food was good and the service was great. But the tables are way too close together and there are too many small children to warrant a higher ambiance rating. . I don't go out to dinner to share my table with someone's bratty 5 year-old. I'm not suggesting that children should not be allowed at restaurants, but I'm suggesting that the restaurant move the tables farther apart so that those of us who want a nice experience can at least attempt to have that.
Restaurant was NOT open even though I was able to make a reservation on Open Table. Very disappointing!!!!
WORST. SERVICE EVER. tons of children... and whoever "piper (rachel)".. worst. just trust me.. never go to this west village location.
