Vacuum is good, but hoses are a scam Bought this last year and for the first 16 months it worked great. It will not vacuum up leaves and such, but that is not what it is designed for. It does a good job on dirt and will keep your pool clean. The downside, and it is a BIG downside, is that the hoses will decay and crack in 16 months and the replacement cost for new hoses is around $250. This is a scam since normal pool hoses cost $40. Zodiac knows this, but they rip customers off for over-priced replacement hoses because what... read more
The Absolute Truth about this Zodiac MX6. I read a lot of these reviews prior to buying. But for the money, I figured it was worth a shot. First, let's talk about the bad reviews. No suction, Can't vacuum up leaves, etc. Some people are just dumb. Now there is also an ignorant factor in there. (There is a difference) I was filed under the ignorant list for a minute, never owning a pool. So when I hooked this up, I noticed that it really didn't move much. Didn't know you had to set the pool to straight Skimmer. Once I did tha... read more
Vacuums very well, only one complaint I’ll give it 5 starts because it vacuums very well and it’s better than a 4 star machine. It is not perfect though, it does clog pretty easily. So far leaves are mostly fine but some plant debris does clog it up, like long skinny leaves or big stringy tree leaves. Once all those are cleaned up it’s an excellent machine though, it gets right to work and leaves a clean path in one pass. Unclogging isn’t terribly hard if you disconnect it first. Hold hose under while disconnected so it does... read more
Love this little robot! +2 Updates The media could not be loaded. Update #2: It's been 26 months since I bought the unit, and it's finally given up the ghost. It just flounders on the drain at the bottom of the pool, and the propeller on the bottom doesn't spin reliably.I could probably replace the parts and get it working again, but the bottom of the unit itself has worn through. That's probably due to it getting stuck on the edges of steps and just sitting there, grinding itself away. (See photo of the original unit on the... read more
Great Pool Cleaner if properly maintained. MX6 is one of the Best suction side pool cleaner along with the zodiac G3 IMO. All suction side pool cleaners can have issues. Setup is important and expectations. I prefer the MX6 because it doesn't rub on the pool and has a fan that kicks up all the smallest particles. If you have a lot of palm type leaves or long stringy grass it will get caught around the internal components though it is easier to clean out than most. If your unit comes to a stop and you visually inspected it fo... read more
So far so good I had a creepy crawly style cleaner for the last 7 or 8 years. I also have a variable speed pump that I try to keep on the lower end of the RPMs. Getting the creepy crawly thing to work consistently was a PITA, and in comparison this has been a breeze. If I run the the pump on a lower speed the cleaner slows down, on a higher speed it speeds up. Seems to consistently work, though on lower RPMs gets stuck in pool corners & won't climb walls, but that is to be expected since its 'outside of the target range.'When... read more
Not built for the long haul After 8 months of using this product, I can say that the sides of my pool have never looked better...this unit has a pretty good traction and actually makes it along the sides of the pool, as well as up onto (but not always off of) the steps. A lot of built-up crud from the previous homeowner is now gone.Unfortunately, it's not very good if you happen to have any leaves at the bottom of your pool that are more than about a half inch in diameter, and certainly nothing stringy such as palm frond pie... read more
Nice looking but not as effective as I expected I am a new pool owner so I depend on my pool guy to educate me. He suggested I buy a pool vacuum. After doing my own research and reading reviews, I thought this MX6 would work. After several months of using it, I noticed some irregularities like it getting stuck frequently on the step and it rolling on the back wheels only (kinda like doing a wheely). I would call Zodiac and they were able to trouble shoot the 'wheely' issue. I won't worry myself about getting stuck on the ste... read more
The spinning Zodiac vac The Zodiac was purchased to replace an aging Kreepy Krauly. On the plus side, the cost of the Zodiac was reasonable, assembly of the hoses was easy, and adjustment of the pressure was also an easy process. I'm not sure about the down side. It could just be that the Zodiac works so differently than the Kreepy (and I've had 2 Kreepys over the past 25 years). The Zodiac often just turns around and around without seeming to propel forward. However, that's what I observe so I found it's better not to watch... read more
