Dr McLawhorn is an excellent listener and efficient communicator. He replaced my right knee 3 months ago and the left was just done this week. I am grateful for the efficiency of the HSS staff, Alexandra and Amanda, the nurse Anne, the whole pre-op and the operation room staff. I could tell that they enjoyed their work, and each other- a sign of good business practice and care for employees behind the scenes. If I had another knee, Dr McLawhorn and HSS would be the only place I would go!
I had left anterior hip surgery at the end of July in Stamford. From the time I arrived for my initial consultation in June I was impressed by the efficient, knowledgeable, patient and caring staff. Dr. McLawhorn performed my THR on 6/27/2023 at HSS - Stamford after 8 years of pain. My mobility was significantly reduced by the time I had the surgery. The only issue I had was getting into my home (about a 90 minute drive) after being released from the hospital (within 24 hours of surgery). Dr. McLawhorn saw me 6 weeks post-surgery after reviewing a current x ray taken the same morning as the visit. He reviewed the x ray results with me, examined the incision and tested my range of hip motion. He explained what I needed to do for a complete recovery and answered all of my questions in a very understandable manner.
One knew was done 4 years ago no problems it works perfect the other was done 3 months ago it to is perfect
Dr. McLawhorn performed an anterior hip replacement on me 13 months ago. I had been limping for a year and a half prior to the surgery, and felt pain in every step. The second I woke up in the hospital after surgery, the hip pain was 100% gone. I went in for surgery at 7:30 am and left the hospital, walked up the stairs and into my house that same afternoon (used the cane as instructed but had no pain in my hip or groin, just some normal soreness and swelling for a couple of weeks as expected from the procedure). My entire process was quick and seamless. I had my first appointment with Dr. McLawhorn in mid-April and was scheduled for hip replacement surgery in early May. I had done my own research, but Dr. McLawhorn was thorough in explaining the procedure and what to expect after surgery. His team was helpful and gracious during the pre-operative work up program. I have my left hip replacement surgery 6 weeks ago with Dr. McLawhorn. From the time I came to see him all my fears were eased by his compassionate, kind and caring demeanor. Having the procedure performed by a highly skilled surgeon was truly wonderful. It was amazing that I experienced no pain and I could walk immediately after the surgery. Dr. McLawhorn and his staff could not have made my Total Hip Replacement surgery easier for me.
