In March 2024 I had a total hip replacement. Dr McLawhorn was very thorough and gives you specific instructions so you know what to do and how much you can do. I can say that I was very nervous before the surgery but it turned out that was needless angst. Just 6 weeks out and I can walk 2 miles and am walking better than I have in years. I never really had any pain just numbness and achiness. The Stamford Hospital Staff was also terrific.
Dr. McLawhorn performed a total hip replacement for me in January, 2024 at HSS's facility in Stamford, CT, after a sudden onset of arthritis that left me unable to walk without severe pain for several months. After interviewing three surgeons I picked Dr. McLawhorn for a total knee replacement. Many years ago I had an unsuccessful reconstruction surgery on my right knee. When I came to Dr McLawhorn, my knee was bow legged, I was walking with a cane and a limp. Knee replacement January 2024. Just completed my 6 week evaluation and ready to resume a normal life. At 6 weeks posts surgery I am already ahead of where I was before surgery. Glad I didn't wait any longer.
If it is possible to have a wonderful experience with hip replacement this was. Dr. McLawhorn and his staff were great. I felt very taken care of, always someone quickly available to answer a question. I highly recommend HSS and Dr. McLawhorn.
I had a hip replacement done by Dr McLawhorn in November 2023. I could not have had a better experience. He is an excellent surgeon who listened and made this experience a success.
