I don't normally buy extended warranties or insurance but I did this one time with a new pair of glasses. As luck would have it one lens was scratched (and I have no idea how). The repair was expensive as both lenses had to be replaced but the Allstate Insurance plan paid for it (less my $25 deductible) so this story had a great ending and I am thankful.
