This is our third home that we've had American Home Shield on and their process on submitting claims is better than it used to be. We’ve been with them for over 25 years. We’ve also had other home warranties and they are crap compared to American Home Shield, so we just stick with them. Hornet Appliances was excellent. They made two visits and everything was fixed. They were very professional and quick. There was a delay because of parts that they had to order that took two days. It was totally understandable and I knew that it was gonna be as such. Nonetheless, the second technician that showed up made things happen okay. There was no negligence on their first visit. You never know when something's going to break. Having Home Shield, you at least have someone who can come out and check it for you. Smart Choice said the motor inside was overheating so they had that one replaced. The AC would run and it would run inside, but it wasn't reaching the temperature it should be reaching to cool down the house, and then the outside stayed running so they weren't communicating with each other. I had a warranty through another company and they weren't providing enough service so I went with AHS. I've been with them for three years now and they provide good service. Recently, the AC didn't work and so I called AHS over the phone and they sent Affordable Comfort and Construction. I thought they did an awesome job.
I filed a claim online for a rekey and it was pretty straightforward. Pop-A-Lock showed up, rekeyed, and showed us a few things.
The tech from Comfort First Heating & Cooling who came as American Home Shield's contractor was courteous. He knew what he was doing. He diagnosed my issue to be a problem with my thermostat. He had one in his truck, put it in and my AC system cooled. A couple of days later, the system was off and my house was hot. Comfort First had to come back and the tech diagnosed that the fan motor was bad which he didn't know the first time he came to my place. Using AHS's warranty is extremely easy. We submitted a claim online to them for a garage door issue and they sent Morrissey Overhead Garage Doors to handle it. The tech from there was on time and he did a great job. He explained everything that he was doing and cleaned up when he was done fixing the problem. Now, our garage door is working great.
Submitting the claim for the air conditioner was okay except I went online to do it ‘cause there was nobody to pick up the phone. I don't like doing it online but it was fine after I figured it out. The contractor came out the next day and he took care of the problem. He was very nice and professional. I'm glad that we have American Home Shield.
We put in a claim to American Home Shield because there was like a knocking noise coming from the refrigerator. Also, the ice machine was intermittently dispensing ice and not dispensing ice. Accord Appliance came out, and my wife was the one that dealt with the technician. I was at work.
