Amerigas has the worst customer service and their automated delivery process is horrible. We had auto delivery and almost ran out this January - which was one of the coldest on record. Supposed to deliver when tank is at 20%, but delivered when it was at 1%. Fast forward 20 days, and they started to deliver when the tank was at 85%, so I called to cancel delivery, but they did not, so I got billed for the little bit they delivered. 0 rating. Was with AmeriGas for 8 years. Requested a tank fill paid $430 upfront. They told me I needed a new tank. AmeriGas called wouldnt service a 1 appliance account, took the tank and charged me $450 to take the tank out. Tried to get money back through customer ********************** line, spent over 2 hours on hold with a foreign call service was told I was out of luck. Do not use this company under any circumstances
Local delivery is prompt and courteous. However, Prices are too high compared with other propane delivery companies. **************** is extremely poor. Help is non-existent; it is hard to get through with long wait times, and difficult to understand the customer representatives on the phone. Billing invoices have errors. Company holds checks mailed and then charges late fees. Cannot resolve billing issues over the phone. A letter of complaint was filed with the company and no response received. After repeated calls to company, of low gas levels, and company promised expedited refill, Amerigas failed to respond to promised action. Tank is now empty.
We ordered propane at 25%, ran out before delivery date, wanted to charge us $****** for emergency delivery after we paid $1376.00 for 200 gallons of fuel. We are in our seventies and on a fixed income, could not afford any more. They would not work with us to pay the extra the next month. They are charging almost $5.00 per gal. and we found a supplier that charges half that amount. Then we canceled the order and asked for a refund, and to close our account. The worst scam I have ever seen. AmeriGas will not come out unless you check a box to have a leak check for $140 dollars. The service guy literally sprayed a bottle of soapy water on 2 fittings and I was billed the $140 dollars. Even worse when I tried to resolve the issue I was connected with a representative who could not change address information of billing data.The company keeps you on the phone wanting you to hang up. I would leave a Zero if that was an option. RUN, do not walk, away from Amerigas Propane. As directed, they filled my tank to 40% on December 31, 2024. We woke up on February 21, 2024 with the tank at 5%. Another company we called (that well be switching to) said he had never seen such a mess of connections on our tank. Our tank never had the protective cap that covers any of the connections either. Apparently, at the last delivery, the connections were not secured correctly. When trying to leave Amerigas for another Propane company with better rates, I was sent a bill for them to come and pick up THEIR OWN propane tank. The bill was for nearly $500 dollars!! They use this strategy to punish people for leaving them or to manipulate them into remaining under contract. There is no way this overpriced fee should be allowed.
I don't even want to give them 1 star. Although I'm on auto-delivery and auto-payment, my tank was went to zero. In the dead of winter in between snow storms, I didn't have heat, a working stove, or HOT WATER and my 89-year-old mother living with me. Call after call, Amerigas gave me the complete run-around and told me what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone.
