You're better off diagnosing your pet by yourself using Google. If I'm paying a clinic with 8 veterinarians thousands of dollars, I expect a round-table meeting between all of them to diagnose my pet's problem. This clinic is more of a party bus with at least 15 employees walking around everywhere yelling, laughing, joking. I could not hear the receptionist talking to me across the counter. Avoid Animal Hospital of Newport Hills unless you want your precious pet to die from their negligence. They overdosed my dog with twice the level of anesthesia. I complained, and the hospital manager, Kent Thomazin, wrote me an extremely passive aggressive letter attempting to spin their blatant mistake. I have been going here for 2 years and it is time for a change. I have been questioning a lot of the recent charges. It seems like they are always pushing for extra testing especially blood tests. After the last visit, I decided to take my Doodle to another vet for a second opinion. Very eye opening! Decided to take him to one more vet for a third opinion. Same opinion as the second vet. I have lived in the Newcastle area for sometime and have gone to various vet clinics in the area, but about a month ago I decided to give this one a try since it was close by and I needed to take my cat in quick because he seemed to not be feeling well, and was lethargic all day. This clinic used to be very good. Care of your pet was number 1. Unfortunately, things have changed...Now it is all about the money. We have been faithful customers for 19 years. Started noticing a change about two years ago. Noticed increased cost and if some of the procedures were really necessary. Every visit started to require blood work and x-rays. I had been going to this vet for a very long time. The first incidence that made me uncomfortable was when one of my dogs was very ill. We called to make an appointment to let her go as we couldn't stand to see her suffer. After making an appointment with Dr. Belau and going thru this ordeal with her I was left with a horrible memory. Dr. Belau rushed the procedure as she had an event to attend for one of her children. I agree that this place is over priced but I've continued to take my pets here strictly out of convenience in location & it was kind of my childhood vet, (my mom took my dogs here for 16 years in the early 90's- 2009 & never complained & when she had them put down there it was a good experience & there were kind & supportive staff.) October 1st 2012 Newport Animal Hospital 13018 SE 72nd Pl Newcastle, WA 98059 Monday, September 24, 2012 I brought my cat Boo, in for an exam. He hadn't been eating, was lethargic, and I thought he had a high temperature. I thought it might have been from the flea medication I put on him the prior week. I have been driving by this vet office for years due to previous bad experiences with them running up the bill, but had a cat come down with a UTI on Saturday when our regular vet was closed. I mentioned on the health questionaire that the cat also had a soft stool, but explained to the vet that the primary concern was the UTI since the cat has had several in the past.
