I ceased my business after a simple cat dental cleaning that almost cost my cat their life. I was on call that day so there was no reason they shouldn't of called me. They made some unethical decisions which almost cost them his life. This was the first scenario that made me loose trust in this vet. The second scenario is that every time we came to pick up meds, order meds, order food, get lab work done, nothing was done in a timely manner. When we'd pick them up they'd loose the medication. I have been taking my pets to Animal Hospital of Newport Hills for years and used to be satisfied with the service. Some vets are better than others, but on the whole, it was a good experience. Not anymore. I understand that with covid and short staffing, the office has had to make policy changes to their scheduling, but one of the best things about this office was the ability to walk in for a same day appointment if my pet was experiencing a medical issue. Kia, to combat the increased demand of people needing vet care, staff changes, and the changing medical needs of pets we have transitioned to appointments over walk-in to ensure we are valuing our client's time. We keep a set number of same-day appointments so we can see as many urgent visits as possible and typically work in multiple emergencies a day on top of the same-day visits. We went here for vaccines and Dr. Jody pushed and pushed for so many unnecessary treatments. They are definitely a money maker, especially since they refused to give vaccines without a 30 second/$70 exam. This was a waste of money and we will not be going back.

I have been taking my animals there for 10 years. Dr. Teng is wonderful. Unfortunately, however, I will be leaving the practice to find another vet. I know life with COVID has been rough. Being short staffed is difficult. I am a RN, I get it. We're exhausted too. I hope the practice comes back to its previous excellence. Jh

Can we give them negative stars? THE WORST VET EVER!!! We used to take our fur babies here years ago and couldn't have been happier. Something has changed. Maybe a new owner, like some reviewer suggested? Scheduling is a huge mess. One of the front desk persons flat out told us scheduling depends on who you talk to. We've found double charges more than once. They told us it was a simple mistake but should have never happened! Unnecessary procedures and meds. Service- nope. Scheduling ease- not here. Concern for your time- sadly its about monetizing your pet. Can I give them zero stars? After yet another dissapointing debacle of my time and my dogs wellbeing... We will be moving on- finding a veternarian that can actually schedule, confirm and manage an appointment. This place must have been sold to a new ownership practice. My original vet long gone from here- she warned me before leaving. It's been 6 months since Dr Smart injured my cat's throat and vocal cords. There has been no change in his condition, except for the gurgling, gagging and coughing is more frequent now, try all day every day. For the record, Dr. Smart has not made any effort to contact me. No phone call or email asking about the condition of my cat. What a totally worthless human, unworthy of the title," Dr". I've been here 3 times and haven't had a single good experience. The first time was immediately after my dog's adoption for a simple checkup where they spent maybe 5 minutes looking at him and then mostly tried to upsell me on bloodwork, when I had medical records given to me by the adoption agency showing he had that work done a few months prior. Strike two was after getting some stomach medication for him, because I got home and the saw medication was expired, or at best, mislabeled. The expiration date had passed a few ... read more

I have been going here for over 40 years and most of that time we had excellent care and service. Since covid, they seemed to have taken on way more customers than they can serve and now you have to jump through so many hoops for overpriced care and no customer service. If you have the time to sit and wait for them to see if they can get you in when you need it or wait for them to contact you with an appointment time, maybe they will still work for you.
