I want to share a negative experience with this company. I purchased my vehicle a year ago. I purchased the extended warranty 5 yrs or 100.000 miles also. Which now coming up with my second problem with my vehicle im told there was a max cap on the contract of 3000. So they can only provide me with 425. And contract would be over. Which at time of purchase I was never told this.

Business response:

section 8 of the warranty explains the aggregates for the contract. In this case the engine aggregate is 3000.00. The contract still has coverage remaining for the transmission and differential assemblies

Do not business with AUL. It is a scam. They sell you a contract claiming specific parts are covered and then refuse to cover them. My contract specifically states the "Heater Motor" is covered and AUL refused to cover it because a relay inside the heater motor went bad. And a relay in the motor is not the motor. Even the mechanics believed this should be covered. So much so, they fixed the issue while awaiting on the decision from AUL. It was denied. It is truly amazing this company has an A+ rating with the BBB when there ... read more

Business response:

*** ****** is correct. The blower motor is covered. The failure the repair shop diagnosed and called in was a failure to the blower resistor which is not listed for coverage. It is a separate part, not part of the motor. If there is something else to review AUL is willing to listen. In this case the claim was correctly adjudicated per the terms and conditions of the signed contract.

Ref: policy number ********** On 04/27/2016 my wife and I purchased a lifted 2010 **** ******** 4X4 from ******** ******* * *** **** ** ********* ******* **. Based on the aftermarket lift we expressed our concern to the dealer about future maintenance concerns. The dealer offered an aftermarket warranty which I was very reluctant to accept because of poor past experiences with these types of shady warranty businesses. The dealer assured us they have a great working relationship with the company (later identified as aul) and ... read more

Business response:

In this case the claim was correctly adjudicated per the terms and conditions of the signed contract. The lift kit surcharge allows coverage for repairs of components that may fail due to the modification. It would not cover the kit as it is not standard to the vehicle. AUL apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Filed a claim to have a part replaced. Had to get oil changes every 4,000 miles. I went over the 4,000-mile mark on all three previous oil changes and they approved the claim stating that I was pretty close to the 4,000-mile requirement and they approved it. I was over almost 1,000 miles on one oil change. Mind you these are also full synthetic oil changes done by the dealership, manufacturer recommends changing the oil every 10,000 miles. So in my mind, they stating I was pretty close meant as long as I made an effort to ke... read more

Business response:

The contract signed by the customer requires a maintenance requirement which must be adhered to. AUL allowed an exception with the 1st claim as a goodwill gesture. The customer was aware of the exception and the contract guidelines. the claim was in fact adjudicated correctly.

Their booklet subtitle reads "Exceptional Coverage","Unparalleled Customer Service". No matter how good you make something sound or appear, people will catch on pretty quickly if there is no substance to the claim. That was the case with my recent experience with AUL. I purchased my first Subaru Outback from a dealer which, by all accounts, had an excellent rating from it's past customers, so with all things looking promising there was little reason to worry. This was also my first (and as you'll see, last) experience with A... read more

Business response:

AUL received the 1st diagnosis of a failed water pump which was in fact covered and authorized the repair. After replacement the shop called back and advised additional damage found which was the head gasket. AUL advised gasket was covered but any damage due to overheat is not. The vehicle was inspected and the head gasket was authorized. The additional overheat damage was not covered. AUL correctly adjudicated the claim based on the terms and conditions of the signed document.

Purchased AUL from a good dealership in Castle Rock, CO. AUL took two weeks to approve the repair and tried to get out of paying the full cost of repairs. After picking up the vehicle from the dealership I discovered an oil leak where the repair was done. I took the car back to the dealership and they said when the cylinder head was damaged by the valve spring guide it cracked the valve cover causing the oil leak. I was told by AUL that the valve cover was not cover under the warranty because its not listed as a warranty par... read more

Business response:

AUL correctly adjudicated this claim per the terms and conditions of the signed contract. With regards to the non covered valve cover, the contract is specific listed parts. A valve cover is not listed therefore not covered.

Props to AUL for writing the best contract in the world. They have a nice clause hidden in there that basically allows them to avoid replacing the majority of parts on 90% of used vehicles. They do not cover "Any mechanical breakdown or FAILURE caused by...(d) sludge, rust, residue, or corrosion". Well what they don't tell you is if your part is covered under warranty but the bolts holding the part on are corroded, you're out of luck. Most used vehicles are rusted underneath which equals corroded bolts. How is AUL going to r... read more

Business response:

AUL has authorized 1,145.00 towards the repair of the vehicle in question. The repair shop called to say they need additional labor to remove bolts that are seized in the head. Failure due to rust is not listed for coverage. The claim was adjudicated correctly. AUL will maintain our position on this matter.

On Nov 2012 I purchased a 2002 Nissan Frontier 4x4 that had 118,790 miles. I was leery of purchasing a truck with so many miles but the dealer assured me that if I purchased the warranty from AUL I would be covered for the engine and power train. I specifically asked what is the catch. He said that there wasn't one. The warranty will cover your truck for 5 years/100,000 miles. Peace of mind he put it as. So I agreed and drove the truck 6 1/2 hours home. I traveled a long way to buy this truck. Fast forward to Sept 8th 2016: ... read more
