THIS IS A NEGATIVE -Beyond horrific! My mother (88 yrs) was placed here after breaking her leg through Kaiser. The rehab therapists are beyond superb in stark contrast to nursing/personal. The first two days when she needed to go to the bathroom she was told "you have a diaper on go in it!" Her nurse, upon admission, Maria has worked 3 doubles (that I know of) and trust me it shows...Hobart, forgetful and simply mean. THREE TIMES in 2 weeks she was left on top of bed w blanket and same clothes on since the day before! The... read more

Worst health experience ever! I was originally signed up to go directly home after knee replacement surgery but due to complications was sent to Aviara to recover more thoroughly before going home. Although greeted by several staff members when I first arrived, I was left alone in my room for several hours and was not given pain medication for 6 hours - nurses fought amongst themselves in my room, were rude to me, the response time was up to 45 minutes (sometimes longer) when I rang for assistance - and the misery continued... read more

Horrible. My father went in after an ICU hospital stay and was still in need of care and monitoring. That doesn't happen at Aviara. They have pleasant enough aides coming in once in a while, but professionals are few and far between and nothing is monitored. Right after they admitted him they put another patient in his room that was coughing/hacking nonstop. We voiced concern over it being contagious in my father's very weak condition and they said the guy wasn't contagious. Then they came in to do a Tuberculosis test on t... read more

Since the rating system doesn't allow 0 stars, I will give the one star to Jordan (CNA), Jennifer in admissions and Dawn the weekend manager, and some of the physical therapy and occupational staff. Shame on Scripps, Medicare and some other medical insurances/hospitals that recommend this place. If at all possible, do NOT let your loved one stay here. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. First off, If you send your loved one here expect to care for them yourself. Every Time we went to visit we had to change his diaper or move him up or put cream on him. Secondly, because my dad is hispanic and speaks Spanish, they just assume he is on Medicare and had done his paperwork all wrong. My dad has the best private insurance you can get since my mother works for the state. The nursing staff was absolutely horrendous. This review is way past due but. It looks like it hasn't improved since I was there. I had bililateral knee replacements about 5 years ago and since I live alone, went to Aviara for care and knee rehab. I gave 2 stars for the great psyical therapist, Bill. He was the best! The rehabilltion section was wonderful, huge room with lots of skilled pt's!! Now the rooms and service is terrible. Would never put an elderly person there. This was probably one of the worst experiences of my life involving health. I was taking here after major knee replacement surgery as I had no one at home to care for me. So on day three after leaving the hospital, I was taken into a room that was very warm, and had a older roommate, which I expected. It was hard but I was able to get all of my things put away and asked for another pillow. First the good. Case Manager and Speech Therapist are the best. Very caring and professional. And that's it for the good. The nursing care at this facility is shockingly bad. It's too bad, because individually the staff seems to have their heart in the right place. But the execution is horrible. My grandmother was unfortunate enough to have been placed here for three weeks before coming home on hospice. I flew in from out of town and spent hours with her every day for a week. My mom spent a week here. Seemed ok, my first impression was clean, nice looking, very much a hospital feel. She is 90 and came there after a week stay at Palomar for a urinary track infection and anemia. They did 'rehab' for her and declared her fit to leave. As soon as she got home, she complained of stomach pain and painful urination. 'FOUR' hours after being released from this place she has to go back to the ER for a 'severe urinary track infection'.
