Wow. Following my first review, this place blew me away with their response to my review and what took place immediately following. Took literally a few hours. 1. Christina is the care director. She reached out to me via cell phone and was very concerned. She professionally dealt with my complaints and even gave me her PERSONAL cell phone that I could reach her on 24 hours a day. The team at Aviara healthcare have been incredible - taking wonderful care of my husband. Everyone - the nurses, therapists, case management team, activities director - have all been amazing. They have been on top of a very complicated situation and made adjustments when necessary and communicated everything very clearly and timely. Having been to many hospitals and facilities throughout this journey, we feel fortunate to have found Aviara.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment for insight into behaviors exhibited by some of the night nurses. On a more positive note, there has clearly been an effort to make the rooms feel homey rather than hospital-like. (This effort is significantly undercut, however, by the steady arctic blast felt in some rooms from evening through early morning. My 89 year old Father came down with the Flu that tore through San Diego this year just after Christmas and ended up in the Hospital for just about two weeks. A very scary time but fortunately He is a very strong man and managed to pull through. Amazing staff!! Very caring and attentive, truly a great people!!! I especially like Administrator Bill Adams (always there anytime you need anything) and DON Cristina Paranal (amazing at what she does) this place doesn't get enough recognition for the good that it does for the community. Highly recommend this place for yourself or any loved ones!

I was assigned by our corporate office to train at Aviara to become an administrator. I met some absolutely amazing people in my four months there in each of the departments on up to the various department heads and ultimately the Administrator Bill Adams for whom I have a deep respect and admiration. I visited a dear family member here yesterday and was so pleased to find her so well taken of by such a lovely staff. A problem usually fixed by maintenance was immediately handled by nursing staff without hesitation or delay, the physical therapy room was large and inviting- Kevin was especially fabulous- and all care givers (especially CNA Jordan) were cheerful and kind. No, its not a place you want to stay at for very long, but if you need to- its as pleasant as possible.

My mother broke her hip and needed a skilled nursing facility after her hospital stay. We chose Aviara based on my walk through and the location. The facility itself is bright and clean. The nursing staff is conscientious about the distribution of meds. The managers that we were regularly in contact with, Melyssa and Champagne, were attentive to my mothers' needs as I made the ladies aware of them. My dad was there for two weeks. The staff is really nice. The physical and occupational therapists: Tom, Cicilia, Belinda and others are just wonderful group of good folks! Did a great job with him and I just can't thank them enough. The food is not great but OK. The Nurses, CNA's and admins are very helpful and courteous. Bris who was our CNA mostly is probably the sweetest person I ever met. Altogether it was a positive experience. I'd recommend this place.
