I'll post my email I wrote to Bark & Zoom here in hopes that someone will actually reach out to me since no one has. This place doesn't actually seem to care about your pets or your experience anyway so I won't hold my breath, but this was my most recent experience: "I am writing to express my concern for an incident that occurred with my dog, Lila, on Tuesday, April 27th at your facility. I was informed when I picked her up at around 7pm that she had been injured during her stay with your facility. The daycare attendant t... read more

Business response:

Hi Ramona J. We are sorry that Lila is hurt; in reviewing Lila's stay with our staff, we know that at that time of the incident she was being monitored by a Pack Member, she was attended to immediately, and she appeared to not have injury or any lasting limp either at that time or later in the day. We will be following up with you directly; we want to make sure we are doing everything we can to uphold our high standards of care. Please feel free to call Rex Johnson, Bark&Zoom Facility Director, at 512-817-2275, as well. We ... read more

I truly don't understand how anyone could give this place a positive rating unless you don't give a s**t about your animals or simply choose to overlook what happens here. For starters, everyone should know that the info this place posts on their website and shares with customers during "evaluations" is a COMPLETE LIE. You'll be told that your dog will have lots of playtime and activity during the day, options for enrichment activities, 24 hour staff and attentiveness to their needs (potty breaks, food/water, etc). What actu... read more

Business response:

Hi Courtney, We strive to meet all our client's expectations and are sorry we were not able to give you the experience you were looking for at Bark&Zoom. Our records do show that we did not charge you for your pets' stay. We have reached out to speak with you but received no response. We would like to discuss this matter with you further. If you are willing. please contact me at 512-817-2275 or email me at rex@barkandzoom.com. Thank you, Rex Johnson Facility Director - Pet Hotel

Went to complete a walk through of the facility before boarding our dog here. The woman at the front desk was very short and unfriendly. When she was informed that we called previously per their General Manager's instructions, she seemed annoyed and rolled her eyes before walking us to the back. The place seemed very cold and the kennels weren't as "executive" as they made it seem. The dogs looked sad and when we left the rooms, they turned off all the lights, and the dogs were sitting in the dark. When asked about any activ... read more

Business response:

T K., Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is not the experience we strive to provide to each and every client that walks through our door. Would you be willing to contact me at rex@barkandzoom.com so we can discuss this further to see if there is anything we can do to turn your experience around? Thank you.

Contrary to previous food review I gave earlier this year, I am truly disappointed about this facility. We have an upcoming trip out of town and when we tried to make a reservation again for our pets ( Miniature Schnauzer and Yorky Terrier) we were told our dogs are no longer welcome. They told us they were "Geriatric" although one is 8 and the other is 9 years old. We have spoken with a manager and were told that the initial evaluation was a mistake. Our dogs behave well and one of them has a need for Insulin with meals b... read more

Business response:

Hi Jose, We appreciate you reaching out with your concern. Unfortunately, we did not have the proper training on-site to administer your dog's insulin and therefore could not board him. An exception was made the first time and extra staff was brought in to make it work, but this is not always possible. We take our client feedback very seriously and will take your comments into consideration. We aim to treat every client with the utmost respect and exceed expectations whenever possible. That means the safety of the animal ... read more

Stopped by today with our dogs to check it out. Great facility. But here is the thing. If your dog is over 10 years old they will not be accepted for boarding, no matter how well behaved. We are astonished - especially since I checked the website and it says nothing to that affect. So, if you have older dogs this is not for you. Bark and Zoom - how about adding this 10 yage restriction to your website. Or better yet, allow dogs at any age. Thanks for your reply Crystal. We will take you up on the orientation day idea. Glad... read more

Business response:

Hi Nancy, Please accept our apologies for this miscommunication. We actually do not have an age limit policy for dogs and invite all ages to visit us for an orientation day. We know that different dogs age at different rates and it would be unfair to have a firm cutoff. We actually have many elderly dog clients who love their play days and vacations away from home with us. Recently, we had some elderly dogs age out of boarding with us due to health-related issues. In discussing how to approach these families with compassio... read more

My dog was boarded here for several days, twice. My first pickup was met with an employee who said my dog had a great stay and was "up to his old self" the whole time. That was moments before a computer error occurred, prompting her to question if I had ever brought my dog there in the first place, as he was not apparently registered in the system. After later sorting this out, and confirming that he WAS physically located at the facility (and not running loose somewhere around the airport), I smelled his coat and could tell... read more

This is a great example of over-promising and under-delivering. I was nervous to leave my dog while away for a long weekend, but Bark & Zoom promised to send pictures if I asked for them and provide lots of updates. They failed miserably on ensuring my satisfaction and comfort with ever using this service again. Both times I called to check in on my dog, they said they would have to call me back. Hours later, someone would call me back and say "notes say she ate today. All is good." They couldn't tell me how many times, if ... read more

Let me first say that I did not board my dog here but it was for good reason. My dog is a 1.5 year old Goldendoodle with a good amount of energy. I asked how long the dogs are outside for during the day and the answer was alarming. They said because they have so many dogs (they can have up to 180 I believe! ) they can't let them out for very long because they have to rotate so many. Each dogs gets to go outside usually 4X per day (up to 6X if they have fewer dogs). Each time outside lasts 15 MINUTES.. 15 minutes 4x per day =... read more

Business response:

Hi Ellen, We appreciate your feedback- We create playgroups to keep them both mentally and physically tired. Dogs will get the majority of their play and energy out within the first few minutes of the play sessions, while the rest is relatively low key, so we give them more frequent, shorter playgroups rather than infrequent longer play sessions. We do also evaluate them on a case by case basis, and if we see that they still have a lot of energy, we will give them extra time. Boarding dogs do also receive additional ti... read more

I won't be bringing my dogs here again. We had a Thanksgiving trip 4 nights long and our boarding place of choice was booked. Bark and Zoom had us pay a full day fee for both dogs for the mandatory test day where they were only there for 4 hours. They also charged 20 dollars more per day per dog for camera access. In comparison, camp bow wow gave us a full free test day, free camera access, and a first day packet about how well the dogs did and adorable first day pictures. It felt like Bark and Zoom tried to squeeze every pe... read more

Dear Cate, Thank you for notifying us about your stay. We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with your first experience with Bark&Zoom. Pet health and safety is our number one priority and we would love the opportunity to speak with you in person to address your concerns about your pups' stay with us. We do want to clarify that the $20 additional you paid was for a Luxury Suite, which is larger than the kennel boarding and has a TV in it, in addition to the camera access. We encourage family dogs to stay together an... read more
