Christmas in Edgartown
The food and wine were both excellent, but I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone with food allergies. We informed our server of dairy, wheat and soy allergies, and the plate arrived with a random vegetable substitution that included soy beans (the item normally included green beans, which would have been fine). We had a beautiful table with a great view. Service was prompt in getting us started. We orders foie gras, which only came with two pieces of grilled sourdough so we asked for more. It took about 15 min to get two more pieces. After we finished that, we waited an hour to get our entrees. The entrees themselves were enjoyable, but the sides (mushrooms and spinach) lacked flavor and were luke warm at best. We left happy to have had a nice date night, but over all disappointed.

Attitude from the kitchen had us out the door before dessert. Bettini failed to prepare a $50 filet at a medium well temperature...three times. It arrived twice at medium rare and the third time, the waitress presented it as “well done.” Our twelve year old son had patiently waited for his steak to arrive again and again only to be delivered a final time both charred and inedible. Food was great, the service was not good at all. Needed a spoon for soup, knife for steak, and no salt/pepper on the table. Also, needed to pour our own wine and the pre-dinner cocktail didn’t come until after dinner was served. Ladies room not attended to, no TP on ladies room, and no lock on the stall.

Very expensive restaurant with poor service. Too bad because it is well decorated and pretty inside. Some of our food was awful— like the bread you pay for!— but most was fresh and nicely turned out. Hopefully the owners will tweak and get right soon.

I do not think we should pay for bread which was $6. My husband and I split a salad and an $8 food charge was applied to an $ 18 salad

Waitstaff is not well trained. Yogurt dip for bread is horrible. Decor is mediocre. I hate the curtains separating the two dining rooms. Looks tacky
