We were excited for the Black Bear Diner restaurant to open. We have gone there for an early dinner and for breakfast. Each time the staff in general is very friendly and polite. But when we went for dinner we wanted to sit in a booth and the booths were full according to the employee. I asked how long it would take to clean a booth and she said five minutes. The dirty booths didn't have any dishes plates or anything on them they were just empty. So we waited for her to offer to clean a table. She did not. The food was go... read more
Went for lunch. I had the Tri-Tip dip sandwich with fries. The sandwich was very good. I like the au jus a little salty and this was perfect. The fries. OMG. There was a mountain of them, fresh, hot, and golden brown. Now I'm old time Chico and I thought the prices were a little high, but then I remembered it was minimum wage $15.00 and recession times. I went in again today for breakfast. I had the Eggs Benedict with hash browns. It was yummy. The service was great. When I walked into the diner. Every one yelled good morning "Welcome to Black bear". Overall another great visit.
Fantastic service especially the manager he offer me a big bear deal for my first time being there food was great I traveled 6 hours because I wanted to go on a road trip around the state and the sound of the name just rang a bell. The ambiance of the place is so peaceful and full of life lots of trees around in general that city is so beautiful. It's worth going I hope I can go soon again.
Came in for brunch and the staff really made me feel like part of the family. The food was great and it was a very comfortable place to be. I will definitely be coming back.
You have to try these pancakes. Best I have ever tasted in my life. I will be dreaming about them for days.
Highly recommend. Great food! Great service! Staff is all so friendly and considerate about if we need anything even if they aren't our waitress they are stopping by to help. Julia is our waitress and she's a five star employee. The hostess had us seated quick. Also manager is very present and all over the restaurant assisting and managing staff. My husband loves salmon and he said this is the best salmon pasta he's ever had.
The new diner is welcomed. Food and service was good for a new crew. Prices are higher than I remember; $20 for many items, inflation?
Our food was absolutely great. The Huckleberry lemonade was delicious!!! Our waiter was very friendly; as well as everyone else we incountered. The decor 100%! I love Black Bear Diner and I am very excited to have one in Chico, CA.
