First time dining at this location since the pandemic. Black Bear Diner offering indoor and outdoor dining (8 - 4 seater tables) under a shaded canopy which makes for a nice dining experience as this area can get hot in the afternoon. Staff friendly, welcoming, efficient and mentioned all staff had training on wiping down tables, chairs , wearing masks and social distancing. Never been a germaphobe but now I am, when you hear "air-born" virus...So a good to know that restaurants are following safety guidelines and keeping... read more

Impressed with the health and safety measures! Had breakfast in their outdoor seating area and enjoyed a fresh meal (somehow seemed fresher than when we used to eat indoors prior to corona. The hash browns didn't seem like they'd been on the griddle too long, the fruit was fresh, the sausages cooked perfectly). Our waitress was very pleasant even though she has to walk to and from tables outside to inside to fill up our coffee, tables were spaced 6 feet apart, there was covering from the sun, and the staff took extra healt... read more

I have been going to Black Bear for years, at least once a week. The service is great, and I've very much enjoyed my meals there. However, they recently stopped serving tuna fish. As I don't eat meat, the tuna fish is my go to meal. I'm not sure why you deleted it from your menu, but because you have, I won't be eating there anymore. I will miss my lunches there very much!

Business response:

Thank you for the feedback. We're always trying to make dining at Black Bear Diner the best experience it can be, so thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I haven't been there for a few years and decided to go with a friend last night. Unfortunately that wasn't the best decision. The restaurant really needs some help on cleanliness. It looked like it hadn't been vacuumed since last week. Carpet was filthy! We walked in and got seated right away. There were about 6 to 8 other tables with people sitting either waiting for their food or waiting to order. I guess ordering a baked potato as a side at dinner time isn't the best choice. It had definitely been sitting around for a ver... read more

What an unpleasant surprise Ordered a oatmeal, came out with cranberry raisins I'm allergic to cranberries . I asked for raisins they didn't have them so I asked you substitute sliced banana the waiter, of course. The bill came and I was charged 4.95 extra. I talked to the manager. He didn't want to take anything off. He said well. The cranberries cost is $.20. I'll take off 20 cents. .

Service was very good as always. However, today I ordered a tuna salad and asked for olive oil as a dressing and they told me they only have Seed Oil! Seriously!!!!! As an option, I asked for any dressing without sugar and they have none! If you're looking for something one might want as healthy, this is not the place! Bye bye Blackbeard Diner!

I walked in tonight for dinner and was promptly seated. A couple of tables near me were seated afterward. They received service and ordered their dinners. No one ever came to my table to take my order or ask if I needed anything. I left. I will never try coming again. Terrible experience. I have frequented The Black Bear in Gilroy and have always been treated with respect and great service. I think the management at San Ramon can take some lessons from Gilroy.

Business response:

We are sorry to hear about your disappointment regarding your recent visit. We strive to deliver great meals with tremendous service, and it sounds like we let you down. Your concerns will be addressed, and we thank you for your feedback.
