Been to this place a few times in Phoenix. It is always so good. Sad to see iron skillet go but this was a good replacement. Service was a bit slow but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since its new and they haven't gotten a routine down yet. Kitchen did get backed up, but there was no lack in the quality of the food. I had the sweet cream pancakes combo. Came with eggs and bacon and I asked for a side of red country potatoes. A completely new renovated restaurant at Petro truck stop. Be prepared to wait for a table on the weekend. I'm not sure how busy this establishment is during the week. Our server was professional and attentive. Our food was delicious and filling. You won't leave hungry here. Highly recommend the pancakes, chicken fried steak and their coffee is very tasty and fresh. They serve breakfast, lunch or dinner all day and have evening specials after 4 pm. Thank you Black Beat Diner for inviting us to your VIP opening. Everything was spectacular. Service was incredible, Management was right on top of things. Food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. And for me, best of all no TV, no music!!! My guest and I could carry on a conversation without yelling at each other, and we could linger over our food without loud, fast music urging us to eat quickly. Arrived at the Horizon Blvd Black Bear diner around 12:30 PM (party of 4); the diner was about 1/5 full. The young man at the check-in/out counter looked at our party then walked off without acknowledging us or saying anything; about 6 minutes later he finally returned to lead us to a table. After being seated, we sat for 10-15 minutes before the waitress finally came over to take our drink and food orders. Note that the diner was not busy by any measure. First when we sat down she took our drink order quickly. We Ordered chicken and waffles and Cheese burger basket waited 30 minutes still no food . People ordered around us came 15 minutes after us and they have already gotten the food. Same server. Would not recommend and won't be back.
