we ordered three breakfast meals. my son ordered the chicken fried steak and if was n't hot the gravy on top congealed in to a half inch thick blob. he ask to substitute pancakes for the pototoes. that didnt happen.his eggs were ordered over easy and came broken and hard. i ordered bacon and eggs the eggs were the only thing that was hot. the bacon was limp and cold. It can not be healthy to keep precooked food ie. meats and potatoes on hand and not bring them back up to temperature. all of the meats on my husbands meal... read more

We sat down (6 of us) and waited for a while, which gave us more than enough time to also select our food choices. When the waitress came, and took our drink order, I also mentioned we were ready to order. I was told curtly that we would have to wait. She then went to another table to check on them. Over 5 minutes later (yes I checked my watch) we received our water. We then placed our order. First off the hostess states it would be 30 minutes for my wife and I . I say to her I can see a bunch of tables open( 30 at the time).2 tables for 6, 2 tables for 4, 1 table for 2 and 8 open seats at the counter. They states would you like to see the waiting list? We went Christmas day and had below average experience but it was early on and that's to be expected.So Sunday we decided to try it again.I get one day off a week and that's Sunday.We went in and there was a wait of 30 minutes that's no problem and we even got in in 10 minutes bonus.It took about 15 minutes to order and she didn't ask what salad dressing I wanted and 10 minutes later I went to the rest room I told my wife if she comes back tell her what I wanted.When I came back she was just finishing up so I asked my wife ... read more

We have visited the restaurant a few times since it's opening a few months ago. Very hit & miss on satisfaction. Usually a long wait for food, often the food has not been hot. Seems like there is a lot of wait staff, but, not very efficient. My wife's order came wrong, after being very explicit regarding sandwich. Croissant was dried up, blackened Salmon was not blackened. I have been here 5 times. Each time the food was good but the heating system is way out of wack and it is ALWAYS uncomfortably hot. Once I had to leave early because it was too hot. I have told the staff each time but no one cares to get their system balanced and fixed. Each time I have told them the staff agrees it is stifling. Also each time customers around me agreed it was too hot. The entire system seems to need to be balanced if you know what that means. Other than that the food is great.

This is probably the 5th or 6th time we have eaten at the Great Falls, MT Black Bear Diner. This last time was the worst. We finally left because after waiting 15 minutes to be seated and another 40 minutes to get our food, we were told they were out of it, and we would have to order something different, needless to say, we left. Our other experiences at this restaurant have had problems too. Half of our food will be hot and very good and the other half is cold - example - Tri-tip dip sandwich would be hot and fries cold... read more

The food was good, however, my Reuben has obviously been sitting under the heat lamps way too long. One side was hard as a rock and the other was soggy with grease from the meat. The waitress was extremely inefficient and could only accomplish one task at a time. She ran everywhere making several trips when she could have made one. She did not check back at the table to see how things were going with our meal and only refilled my drink at my request. She was abrupt and presented herself quite sloppily. First off our waitress was wonderful and attentive. But you really have an issue with your kitchen staff the amount of time from when order is taken to when meal is delivered to the table, it is unacceptable. Waiting 30 minutes for food is not my idea of a pleasent dining experience, I would understand if you had a full establishment but during our vist it was only half full.
