Black Bear Diner had a nice menu with average prices. The food was good, but what I had wasn't great - it was good (The Country Benedict). The wait was long but the staff were friendly. All in all, I'd have to eat something other than breakfast there to try it again and I am willing to try it again.

Very disappointed that they were out of blueberry cobbler which was the whole reason I came in the first place. Other than that food and service was good.

Could not get waited on. No refills for coffee and tea. Our waiter was nice but had way too many tables. Tried unsuccessfully to get dessert. Walked out with another couple and they said "Did you have a bad experience too?" He shared his experience with the cashier and she said, "so, are you coming back?" When he said no, she told him she see him somewhere else. Asked the guy wearing a headset for a dessert menu, but he did not understand English. Tired to find a manager to share concerns but no go there either. Waste of 3... read more

First visit. Was greeted warmly, promptly sat, and the waiter came swiftly. He offered suggestions and was very friendly/professional. He took my drink order, and returned promptly. He took my food order, (Tri-tip combo) and offered to let me keep the menu, pointing out it was news from the local area from 1955. Very interesting, and a great marketing tool, I thought. I went with my mother, as I was in town, to try this place with her. It was a mistake to go on Good Friday because the amount of meat-themed temptation there is nuts. We had a bear claw and split the Shasta omelette to stick to the dietary restrictions of the day. Fabulous. The Bear claw tasted like a fluffy version of baklava. Short story.... Family went there on Thursday 3/22/18. On there 4th day in business. After 1hr waiting on our food, was told that 3 items were not available. They were running out of food. Took them an hour to bring it to our attention. Store managers did little to make this right. We just left. Had resort to Taco Bell drive thru for 5 people at 11pm.....

My wife ate there today with 5 of her friends. 3 of the 6 orders came out wrong. Reuben sandwich had no sauerkraut or thousand island dressing; one of the burgers had to be redone 3 times before they got it correct (and it wasn't complicated--lettuce, tomato, cheese, NO sauce), and two of the people ordered sweet potato fries and it took (and I'm not kidding about this) 5 tries to get it correct. They kept bringing out regular fries. Very disappointed in the lack of quality of service.
