Restaurant relatively empty at lunch time. Only a few employees on shift. It took them over 5 minutes to acknowledge and sit us. Took another 10 minutes for waitress to come over and take drink and food order. Hubby loved his open face hot turkey sandwich dinner. My hamburger was very tasty, however, the fries were limp and undercooked. We were done with the meal before the waitress checked on us. Food was overall good. Service was friendly but very poor. Loved the design of the restaurant, very cute. We'll stocked condimen... read more

Black Bear Diner was not what I expected. I guess I should have expected a diner because heck, diner is in the name. However, I expedited a stand alone restaurant. This one was in a TA service station (truck stop). The food was average and nothing memorable. I ordered the Tri-Tip Dip, but it seemed like each half of the sandwich had a small piece of Tri-Tip on it along with some roast beef similar to lunch meat. The flavor was not bad, it just didn't seem like high quality ingredients. The cole slaw was pretty good. I... read more

This is our go to for breakfast. We have gone 3 times in the last month. I love the pan cakes. Ham is great too. Service is good too.

We were very excited when this location opened cause we are Black Bear fans. Food is tasty and servers have been friendly. It is decked out in all the usual Black Bear charm and decor that I adore. Waiting to be seated and sometimes checking out can take a minute when front staff isn't around

Why did I not know about this place food is great and affordable; I do wish it was a stand alone building though. Especially the fact that they share restrooms. Service was great!

We visited on 08/20/24 for the first time. Had a great, big breakfast, The Grizz, which let us try some of everything on a typical breakfast offering. Our server, London, was one of the better servers we have had in over 50 years of dining out. She was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. Brought us FRESHLY SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE! Wonderful! Where can you get that nowadays in a diner, let alone an upscale breakfast restaurant. London kept the coffee coming while we worked on devouring our breakfast off... read more

Service was excellent. Food was definitely passable. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. Some exceptions as noted with a clock icon on their, somewhat hard to read (old eyes) but quite extensive, menu. Had my 2 fried eggs (over easy), hash browns and thick cut bacon. I added an order of grits. Tasty fare. Beats the Denney's we no longer have here in New Braunfels. Not "foo-foo" just good food. PSA: Biscuits are monstrous! Rustic diner style decor. You can even eat at the counter. Price $$. Ceecee (sorry if I m... read more
