Got seated right away, waitress came up within 5 minutes to take our drink order. Great. Didn't offer any water like normal restaurants do. A little disappointing, then 2 minutes after getting our drinks she came back to take our order. Food came, I received a waffle instead of French toast, we had NO silverware, so we had to ask another waitress to grab us some and she came back with all forks, which I personally like to spread my butter with a knife not a fork, but whatever. I had heard about the great food Black Bear Diner but I have never eaten at one until my brother-in-law's birthday yesterday. It took us nearly a half an hour to get seated in what was a very quaint & clean environment. The staff was nice and cute in the matching outfits but not entirely competent in their ability to handle a party of 7. Our orders were not entirely correct but in an attempt to bring them out at the same time, 4 of the 7 hot dishes were only lukewarm. Never been to a Black Bear Diner before. Yesterday was my birthday so I decided to go and try it out with a friend for lunch. It was about a 30 min wait for just the two of us. When our table was finally ready, she walked us to it and we saw a lot of empty tables waiting to be cleaned and then some clean empty ones too. Which I thought was kinda weird, considering how many people there were waiting to be seated. I understand it's still somewhat new, just recently opened and probably don't have enough employees to bus tables.... read more
Service from waiter was good. However it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Prices are average. Overall good food.
Took our kids on a Thursday at noon... food was okay. Service was slow. They delivered our food and we didn't have enough silverware. The server wasn't visible for over 5 mins so we went to the front and asked... then we had to go to the front again and ask for napkins and more water. Edit: visited again last night 4/30 and out of a party of 10... only 5 of our dishes were correct. Two of them were never entered in. It was a hot mess... and we were there for an 8 yr olds birthday.
First time we went there were opeining bugs to work out. Just went again and will NOT go back. Dirty tables abounded, line waiting to get in, and not a lot of urgency for any of the staff. Didn't seem busy, just not well managed or tended. Poor service, long wait for food (other tables seated after us were served first, a cheeseburger and dip are not complicated to make) food only so-so (tepid burger and burned tasting fries). Had certainly hoped to make this place a favorite go-to spot. Very disappointed.
Was very excited to try black bear so we went at 6:00 on Wednesday evening. Had a 40 minute wait to be seated and then sat at our table with our 3 year old and didn't get served at all!!! Waiters walking by ignoring us so we left after over an hour of waiting!!! Horrible!!!
We went this last Sunday @ 11:30. When we walked in, there were a bunch of people waiting to be seated, but there were a couple of empty tables in the back room. We were told there would be an hour wait. It was about 35 minutes. After we ordered 2 sandwiches with salad and french toast, we waited another 45 minutes for our food.
