I took my family to the diner for dinner. This is the second time I have been there, the first time actually eating there. The first time we went, the service was so bad we just got up and left after waiting for 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were seated and waiting. But we figure we would give it another try. We where seated very quickly, but after 15 minutes we still had not seen a server. We ordered the two egg breakfast. My husband has hash browns and I had the potatoes. My toast was burnt but our waitress decided to bring it out anyway, saying that she thought it looked burnt, and my husband asked why she would send it out to us. She acted "put back" when I told her that I wanted new toast and handed it back to her. She reluctantly took it back and brought back new toast. Ate at the Sandy Black Bear diner today. Only second time I've eaten there, and I will not be going back for a third try. The first time my son and I ate their several months ago, the service was sub-par. This time I went on my own and I had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast, with scrambled eggs, red potatoes and biscuit. The eggs and the biscuit were pretty good. The food was not correct you was out of a lot of things on the menu and the manager was all over our servers case about cleaning tables instead of seeing what he was doing he was working very hard to take care of us and he could not get the food that we ordered and he was so embarrassed because no one bothered to tell him. We arrived just before 10 am. It was busy, however we were seated in reasonable time. We were taken care of at first quite well. Got drinks on time, order was taken quickly. However my meal was not brought out when others at my table got theirs, we finally had to ask about it. When it was delivered it was cold, not as ordered. I go to that establishment a lot but the last few trips have way below par! used to eat there three days a week! Not so much anymore! Ordered myself prime rib for thanksgiving had to call five time before I could order! Got home it was cold and I bought a huge piece of fat hardly any meat! Probably 60 percent fat 40 percent cold beef! And No ogu and no horse radish! Don’t know what happened used to love to eat there! But I’ll be hard pressed to go back!
We have eaten at the Black Bear at other locations and had a good experience. But at this location on 9400 So. and 1966 East in Salt Lake, the experience was poor. We arrived a little before 6:00 pm and waited for about 50 minutes before our food came. Waited 40 minutes for our food. Table was right next to the kitchen and I could see our order sitting on the counter for 15 minutes prior to being served. Sent 4 meals back because they were cold. The waitress said, I will put it in the microwave. When the meals were returned, 2 of them had lettuce garnishment and due to the microwaving the lettuce was so limp it was hanging over the edge of the plate.
