the service is always slow because they short staff the restaurant... when you do finally get service it's great tho. food is always delicious no matter what you order

The food was delicious. Our server Alex was amazing. He was attentive and the service was faster than expected. Everyone was polite and the music was great. He recommended the chocolate cream pie and it was to die for! Highly recommend to get when you come here!

DELICIOUS breakfast. Got the California omelette. Perfectly done. Fresh avocado. Fruit bowl is freshly cut no soggy food. Got the cottage cheese side instead of toast. Reasonable prices. Calm and friendly diner. Cecile was a terrific server and took care of us with excellence. We will be back every time we are on Ventura Blvd.

Had an awesome time at Black Bear Diner! The staff was super friendly shoutout to the lovely guy who brought us butter like it was VIP service. The onion rings were crispy perfection, my well-done burger was actually juicy, and even the coffee hit the spot. Oh and their homemade sauces were the boom (seriously, I could've dipped everything in them). My son devoured two kids meals like a champ and left smiling. Prices were fair, everyone made us feel welcome, and we'll definitely be back soon!

Another excellent Black Bear Diner. Portions are generous and the food itself is so good! If you've never been, definitely would recommend. It also didn't take too long between ordering and receiving our meals. Manny is an absolute sweetheart and made sure we got everything we needed. All of the people here make you feel welcome. Decor is bears to the max. So. Many. Bears. Very on brand.

Delicious restaurant! Had not been here in a couple years and it has changed a big menu wise. First time trying it was up in Northern California. It Has more breakfast options for someone that prefers something simple! Love to cabin vibes, as if you were up in the California mountains! The nostalgia of being in a wooded area even though it's in SFV! Order the breakfast Bagel basket! So delicious. Well worth the price of $11 with hash browns , nice and toasty the way I like them.
