This was our first time trying Black Bear Diner, we got there at around 8:20 on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. I mention this because usually this place is PACKED, they stay super busy from the time they open to close. We ordered the Bear's Choice Breakfast and The Grizz, with coffee and sweet tea. The coffee is 10/10, it tasted amazing! Our food came out very fast and wow the portions are HUGE. With both of our plates combined we tried the eggs, bacon, sausage links, hash browns, sweet cream pancakes, and cinnamon roll... read more

The ambience was very casual and relaxing. Went at the perfect time so there was no wait. The service was 5 Star. He was very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about the questions we asked about the menu and about the restaurant as a whole. The food was absolutely excellent. My wife had one of the tastiest omelette we have had in a long time from a casual restaurant. I had the Italian sausage, the signature pancakes and hash browns and oh my was I pleased. This is going to become our breakfast/brunch dating spot now! Looking... read more

Our visit to the newly opened BBD in Waco was ok. Our waiter was pleasant but I did ask that he made sure the biscuits were hot. I now know that this is common in all BBD's. I've now eaten at four BBD and they do not serve hot biscuits or even luke warm. So in the future I won't be asking for biscuits and gravy when I go in for breakfast. Also the milk I got was in the beginning stages of being sour. It's not going to stop me from going again though. I couldn't give them a 5 Star but a 3 Star wouldn't have very nice.

I visited the Black Bear Dinner today and while we waited to be seated I got to shop their extensive options of Black bear souvenirs from stuff animals to mugs to house shoes. Staff was prompt and friendly and had good recommendations. I even had the Manger Cynthia stop by to make sure we were well taken care of. I had the chicken fried steak with gravy, coles slaw and mash but couldn't leave w/o having of their delicious hot biscuits so I had to order one on the side. Everything came out hot and fresh and delicious as a... read more

Great food, friendly staff, log cabin feel has charm. Stopped in on my birthday for a quick breakfast before a doctor's appointment, I was pleasantly surprised. Server shared the same birthday as me, she was the nicest server I've had in a long time.

The restaurant was very inviting. It was comfortable and fun. The staff was very friendly even though they were very busy. The food was very good with ample portions. A good value for a great comfort food. Lots of good choices that could be customized for your cravings. The coffee was fresh and tasted good. This will be our new breakfast stop!

Decided to stop here on a Sunday morning when traveling through Waco. There was a 25 minute wait, but was able to grab a spot at the bar. The place itself is neatly decorated with a bear country theme. They have a big menu and the food was good, however the service was slow because of how busy they are. It took 15 minutes for someone to approach us.
