Great food, friendly staff, log cabin feel has charm. Stopped in on my birthday for a quick breakfast before a doctor's appointment, I was pleasantly surprised. Server shared the same birthday as me, she was the nicest server I've had in a long time.
The restaurant was very inviting. It was comfortable and fun. The staff was very friendly even though they were very busy. The food was very good with ample portions. A good value for a great comfort food. Lots of good choices that could be customized for your cravings. The coffee was fresh and tasted good. This will be our new breakfast stop!
Decided to stop here on a Sunday morning when traveling through Waco. There was a 25 minute wait, but was able to grab a spot at the bar. The place itself is neatly decorated with a bear country theme. They have a big menu and the food was good, however the service was slow because of how busy they are. It took 15 minutes for someone to approach us.
Great food served in large portions. Cornbread muffins and biscuits amazing. Chicken fried steak was yummy and enough for two. Fried fish all you can eat was good too. Prices are very reasonable. Bring a big appetite and plan on taking home a doggy bag! So glad we tried it.
We ordered breakfast plates and it was pretty good. Nice portion sizes. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and her service was good. The atmosphere was pleasant, nice and welcoming. I would go back for breakfast again.
The Black Bear Diner is new to Waco. Founded in 1995 in Miunt Shasta, California, this bear themed eatery also sports merch of the restaurant's namesake. As of this review, my wife and I have eaten here twice. It is a convenient location to catch a movie and dinner either before or after. Our first visit was breakfast. We went early and waited maybe 10 minutes. Staff were engaging and helpful. It seems like they are trained in costumer service, a rare skill these days. Decor is fun and "beary" in theme. This is a cute diner with lots of cute decor. The menu mimics a newspaper with so many options it's hard to pick. You can get the breakfast options all day. Service was friendly and helpful. This is definitely comfort food. They also have several desserts that are shareable.
We've eaten here once in restaurant, which was outstanding!! The server was attentive and the food was really tasty. We've ordered to go now twice. First time was good. The second time was today. We were missing part of our order. My wife's biscuit was missing and my hash browns were also missing, which I paid for separately. That was the only part that was disappointing but that's a pretty big one.
Food and service are both good here, highly recommend. Since it's new to Waco be ready for a wait.
