If you like overly large portions and rude waitresses then this is the place for you! I came into blackbear around 10am to have a peaceful breakfast with my friends. Our server was named Lexi and she had dark hair. She walked to our table with an uninviting expression and when I informed her that I wanted chocolate chip pancakes she said "are you 12?" In a very rude tone and continually looked at me in a judgmental way. Then she followed with more absurd comments. I was shocked because nobody had ever treated me this way bef... read more

We've eaten at these before, and have had good food and service. On May 29, last Wednesday, we stopped for a light meal. Rochelle was our waitress. My wife and daughter ordered an apple pie and coffee. I ordered sausage and eggs with a biscuit. We got our coffee, and all was well. Three or four more tables of people came in and were seated. Rochelle took their orders before turning ours in. She took all the orders in and we waited and waited. Then she brought out the pies. My wife and daughter tried to wait until I got my f... read more

As you will see from my previous 5 star rating, my husband and I believed we had found our weekly dinner night out place when we first visited Black Bear in Washinton UT. The food was awesome, the portions were plentiful and the service was amazing. That was up until 3 visits ago. The first night we saw a difference, the prime rib was very greasy and I know that cut of meat is fatty but it was 50% fat, how can something like that be served. We chalked it up to a fluke, just a bad night. The next time we went, the prime rib w... read more

Very disappointed in "Friday Fish Fry" today. Fish was burnt to a crisp, almost black; pieces about 1/8" thick. Hush puppies also burnt and hard as a rock, inedible. Sent the first plates back, second not much better but at least a slight improvement. New fish, but same burnt hush puppies from first order. Cole slaw looked good and fresh, but had no flavor whatsoever, no dressing; one bite, couldn't take another. We live in the area and are frequent diners at Black Bear, this was our absolutely worst experience when fo... read more

The food was mediocre, prices too high, the wait way too long (we were 2 of 8 customers at the time) and the coffee was weak and lukewarm. I will NOT go back.

I have yet to have a decent meal or service at any Black Bear location. The only time I go there is when I am meeting family that want to eat there. The service was the same atthis locatition as to what I have experienced at other locations. From the hostess, to the servers to the cashier, evryone seems put out that you are there and that they are doing you a huge favor but serving you and taking your money. I am lover of Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast. So I ordered theirs with the red potatoes, a biscuit, eggs over ea... read more

This restaurant doesn't even deserve a rating. I am so disgusted with how we were received. We had heard great things and decided to try it. Bad decision. The hostess looked like she was hungover and I was bothering her to do her JOB. Then when we were seated we waited for 10 minutes to even be greeted. I know Sabrina was our server, seemed she would prefer to not make money. We left and went to Denny's where we got amazing service. Maybe they should train the servers at Black Bear.

Awful. Terrible food. The waitress was very nice and competent, And what came out of the kitchen was not her fault, but seriously... travel into St George and hit Denny's or perhaps even the other Black Bear location.... this one was just terrible!!

Definitely drive south a bit to St. George for a better experience of Black Bear Diner. We waited about 20 minutes to get a table which was ok, we knew there was a wait but then we had to wait 5 minutes for a waiter and 20 minutes for our food to come out. At that point we were still ok with the wait because we know the food is great but when we started eating our food, it was cold! So disappointed. Either the waitress is not performing up to standard or their system is still being worked out since they just opened this year... read more
